A relative showed me a little thing that could be glued to a lens cap and had a rubber band for around the lens barrel. Any one know the official name for them. Thinking of ordering and the search term 'lens cap keeper' drew blanks.

Lens leash.

Don't kid yourself. The plastic wings wiil eventually crack and be junk!

Just put the cap in your pocket or camera bag. That is also the least expensive method "hands down!"

Eventually?? I have had it on my wire reinforced/anti theft strap (causing more load on the "wings" than a soft strap) for 4 years.
And it sure beats stuffing into a pocket with car keys, wallet, cell phone, or change.

For those who need a tether so you won't lose caps, you'll need to also get some mitten clips. Even back in grade school, I thought those were dorky.

Its not nice to make fun of people!

Love Hate!!!

Mostly hate. Nothing is more disconcerting than having a lens cap hanging and swinging around when you are concentrating on composition and focus... IF you are. Maybe you're more worried about losing a lens cap.

And you look like a maroon!!

Leitz! I'm LMAO at your link... I see myself in many of those how to spot a newbie. But I am having a great time with my gear, guess I'll tone it down a notch and not pack 50 pounds of stuff to the Grand Canyon in October. Thanks for posting this!

Never mind silly, they are another factor in camera shake that most of us don't need.

Now I do! LoL

(At times I've found sarcasm to be a big problem for me also.)

It has never gotten in my way, and I've never felt a pain in my butt from this!
As to looking silly, if I don't care how I look, why should others?

Locally, the cap keepers cost around $5 each - and all it is, really, is a bit of elastic with a sticky thingy on the end. So I made them myself, one for each lens cap I have (and somehow I have more caps than lenses): With 1/4" elastic from the fabric store, I can make 15-18 cap keepers for under $3.

Like it. You can slice up the waist band from old whitty tities(black or blue may be better) Cost....zero.
