One of the Downtown New Orleans Marriots contact our Photo Club to hang photos in their bar area. The photos are all for sale, and I've sold 3 in the last few months. Mostly New Orleans, type photos, like street cars, Mardi Gras floats, and Mardi Gras Indians in their colorful feathered suites. Alligators also fill the bill, as bayou scenes too. I also hang a few in local galleries, and sell a few each month. Care must be taken when selecting the subject matter for restaurants. I've found in the French Quarter, restaurants near Canal Street, are best with bayou, and monuments, and further down in the Quarter, they like and sell more street photography. You do have to make a firm fixed price for your photos, and return often to be sure of what sells, and if the restaurant is not keeping your share too.

I have done this in restaurants, condos, even professionals offices, (dr's office, real estate which by the way could possibly get you on to shoot property's for sale). I give them 15% for the sales. Just make sure you set a price to cover these cost's and still make a fair profit, work's for me.

I have observed photographs that were matted and in protective sleeves on display at restaurants that had purchase price attached. Have any Hogs done this and if so I would imagine the restaurant gets a commission if sold, what would be the going rate?
Also if you have done this is it worth it sales wise?

that sure would have worked for me when I was a drinking man, would give me the initiative to sell more.

The best is condo's in high tourist traffic areas

I have seen this done in all sorts of places - libraries, real estate agents - any business with wall space available. I have no idea how successful the photographers are at selling, but it might attract business to the display location.

My first job ever was in a small picture framing business. You might want to also approach a small picture framing business that is individually owned. They might possibly allow you to try and sell in their shop. They also might possibly be quite involved with their local Chamber of Commerce so would know of other businesses you might want to approach.
