White Sands is a very difficult photography challenge! But I keep going back at it every couple of years or so. The best times are after a rainstorm, sunrise or sunset. During the day, it is so hot and the light is just blinding and brutal!! I vowed never to return the first time I went there. But I have since discovered the deserts natural beauty. Here are a few from this past weeks effort.

This a very nice set. You did a good job capturing it....Rich

Spent eight years living in and around the deserts in the Middle East so I know what you achieved with these images!----Very well done and thx for posting pix of another desert condition----probably even harder to deal with with the pure white color!

Great set Roxie. Brings pleasant memories of when I was there. I'll have to move it up a couple of notches on my return visit list. Thanks for sharing.

White Sands National Monument, near Alamogordo, New Mexico. About 1 1/2 hours from El Paso, Texas. Thanks for the compliments. The largest deposits of gypsum sand in the world, it can be seen from outer space!

White sand is like white snow. I over expose by at least 1 EV. The white area viewed by a camera tries to turn it to dirty grey. The over exposure will allow better white and less blue. David

A very enjoyable and pleasing set of images Roxiemarty. I liked all of these, but have picked #6 as favorite because of the color and subdued light. Congrats on your efforts at getting great results in an environment that seems hostile to photography.
