I think people are misunderstanding the old saying that optimists see the glass as half full while pessimists see it as half empty. The whole point is that they are the same, but our attitude about life makes us see them differently. Saying there is no such thing as half full misses the point.

That's how the realist see it, they are the same. But my extension is, not only are they the same but none of the glass is empty.

I guess for you then, we have to change the saying to half full or half empty of water or whatever liquid in it is. That's what everybody else understands it to mean.

Nope, no change needed, it's perfectly fine the way it is; I personally don't subscribe so, again, no change needed.

I've often wondered what political campaigns are like in other civilized countries. Here, the vast majority of the voters believe there are only two choices, when in fact there are several.

It's the electoral college, not the popular vote, that determines the winner of the Presidency. Just ask Al Gore. A write-in candidate could receive 95% of the vote and still not take office.

I have to add my two cents: I was carrying a camera through Boston's Logan Airport and suddenly found the filter smashed. I have no idea how it happened, but I was really glad that filter saved the lens.

Let's just hope that somewhere a cock crows every morning to make sure the sun rises!

Agreed. However, the Gore situation was complicated by the intervention of SCOTUS which handed the election to Bush.
