How do you get organized so that when the CPU hasn't quite kicked into gear yet, and the first cup of coffee is still in the pot - you don't find yourself half-way to work and realize you left your << fill in the blank >> at home ??
.
<< I noticed that my original upload appeared MUCH darker once processed by UHH - so I brightened it a bit and re-uploaded it - - unfortunately that eats a bit of the contrast >>

Hi Merlin 1300: Depends on the day of the week and what time of day I have to go to work. Some days my work starts at 6 AM other days 11 PM and still other days at 4 PM then again on other days at noon.... So what was the question?? OH yeah... on the days I don't work, I'm up do the three "S"es, dress for the day, eat breakfast, then take care of the honey do's. Then if I have time I play on the computer and on occasion, actually pick up my camera and take some pictures.

I'm retired, so I spend all day in this chair. Seriously, though, when I do leave the house, I have found myself halfway to town - without my wallet. What I do now is have my wallet, cell phone, DSLR, and P&S right next to my computer. When I leave, they leave with me.

I never take my wallet, keys, flashlight, or cig lighter out of my pockets unless I am changing clothes. This way, i always know where my stuff is. When shooting, when I take the lens cap off, it goes in my front left pocket, always. I am a little OCD.

I don't like having anything in my pockets. That's why I carry my car keys on a clip on a belt loop.

There is a web site that has people send in photos of their "Daily Carry." It's amazing what people carry with them every day.

Kinda got me thinking' Merlin; Now that I am retired I don't do ANYTHING before coffee in the morning. Unlike when I was working and had a routine, I now, carry different things depending on what I am doing and am always forgetting something or other.

Speaking of OCD. When I used to work in the woods, I used to have everything in my pockets on fobs hanging out of my pockets. They were like my pocket filing system that way I didn't have to go digging around in my pockets for what I needed.

Jerry, I am surprised at the number of folks carrying flashlights.

... and guns and knives. Google some of those items. People have knives and small flashlights that cost hundreds of dollars. They must be really good.

The little box in the lower right hand corner - holds 3 laser pointers: one is 5mw and the others - - well - - lets just say they came from Hong Kong. They get used when I have to give presentations {such as this week in Atlanta} - - otherwise I use them to determine the distance to the moon by bouncing the light off the retro-reflectors left by the Apollo crews :-)

I'm retired, and always start my day by waking up to a herd of dogs, two cats and four parrots screaming for me.I never need an alarm clock!
After I get out of bed and do the usual things,I chock my e-mail, check UHH,have a nice cup of tea, then decide what I am going to do that day,if anything.

MY EDC carry knife that is always cipped into a pants pocket is a Microtech Socom Elite auto. (or sometimes a Microtech Halo II OTF auto)
I never leave home without a S&W Airweight .38 snubby in my front pocket. Other times it's a S&W M&P compact .40 or a Colt Defender .45 depending on how I feel that day.
I have several Surefire and other similar brand lights that are not cheap. I don't carry one around in a pocket every day but there is usually one handy somewhere nearby.

Since I'm get older, I sometimes need a light to read something or while I am shooting in dim light to see the buttons on camera. I buy these little flashlights MXDL 3Watt - about the size of a Bic lighter, uses 1 AAA battery, made of aircraft aluminum. Super bright. They cost under 2.00 and I buy them from Hong Kong by the dozen to give away. You can find them on ebay.

As my office is maybe 40 feet from my bedroom, via the bathroom and my 21-year-old daughter's room (she doesn't live here any more, having just left university) this ain't a problem. If she's home or if we have guests staying in her room, I go via the ground floor. Then it's 50 feet plus two flights of stairs (one down, one up).

Frances goes via the café-bar on the other side of the tiny square in front of the town hall, 60 feet from our front door...

Cheers,

R.

Looks good and lots of variation in price and shipping. I buy similar lights from Advance Auto Parts. The sell for $2.00 or $2.50. The have 3 AAA batteries, which I recharge. Very bright.
