I have posted photos on UHH before, but this is my first macro post. With the sunny weather here, the bees have come out too. Here are my latest efforts.

In reply to the question about a speedlight, I have the Canon 430EX111-RT. As you noted, these were daylight shots.

You have 95% needed for a good hand-held macro set-up. Look at pages 4 through 7 to see small ancillary equipment (grip, ball head, TTL chord, softbox diffuser) needed to complete your set-up:
