I just watched his video on predictions. He said the Canon 5d mark IV won't come out until 2017 and have 75mp. I hope not. Can you imagine editing those files. Yikes!.

Why do you hope not? If you don't want or need it you don't have to buy it. There are people who will like it and my prediction is a lot of people will like it.

Tracy, I would welcome that camera. The possibilities with that many mp is quite versatile. You don't have to shoot at 75mp.
I edit 50mp every day on my several years old regular $600 desktop computer, nothing special or fancy(not at $600?? LoL), with no problems at all.
What's a lot slower is loading to the computer and converting to Jpeg!!
DON'T FEAR THE MP!!

How would a 75mp compare to a mid format camera? I suppose the nice thing about it is that you could select to shoot at lesser resolutions. The other question would be, as it was when the D800 came out, could it be handheld?

I didn't need 8-tracks, I had perfectly good 45's. I didn't need cassettes, I had perfectly good 8 tracks. I didn't need CD's, I had perfectly good cassettes. I didn't need Ipod's, I already had a CD player. I stream video and haven't turned my DVD player on in years. I'm not running a storage server, but I have 8 TB of storage capacity at home.
I love the info on this board, but I always scratch my head when 50% of members try to discredit new technology because they don't "need" it. I'm surprised they don't still shoot with Kodak Instamatic. New tech isn't about need!!! it's about ability to grow that need!

bdk, don't you want to drive the pixel peepers crazy when they keep going to 200%, 300%, 400% etc and can't find any way to tell you your image isn't sharp enough?

Another reason why I don't watch him. He's delusional if he thinks it's going to be 75 MP. There are many 5DIV out there being tested right now. A good indication of what megapixel we'll be getting is the track record of the series itself dating back to the 5D. It's an all purpose camera and has been all along. Do you think they want to cannibalize the 5Ds/r series or remove their all around FF from the lineup?

That link IMO is clickbait. Ignore it, I'd keep an eye on CanonRumors for a more reliable RUMOR. Craig has been pretty good at predictions but remember, it's still nothing but a rumor until Canon releases the specs. No one is going to take a chance with an NDA lawsuit.

There will be a bunch of people who will buy it. Not because the need 75mp but just so they can say they have it.

I watched through a link from Canon Watch.
He is speculating that Nikon will counter the 5DS/R with something bigger, like 75mp (at the same time as Sony since it will probably be a Sony sensor) and Canon will then meet that, or outdo it, they have had 100mp and 250mp prototypes being worked on and even shown on look-don't touch basis at shows. At the start he states these are guesses and we just have to wait to see if he is right or wrong.

And they might do a split of the line again, or even use a new model number. (they haven't used 2,3,4 yet have they?) As of right now the 5D line is three models I believe; 5DIII, 5DS, 5DS/R.
So having a 5DIV, 5DS/R, and a 75mp model is not that far a stretch. We have to wait and see.

He also speculated a 7DIII with touch screen and the new AF that does multiple point f/8.0 focus like the 80D and 1Dx II. This would be to counter those like me who are considering swapping our 7DII for an 80D to get those multiple f/8 focus points with our 100-400 & 1.4X. Or those going for the 80D in the first place instead of the 7 series.

Yea, that's what I've read about Canon 5d mark IV also. I also have read it will be announced in August. Fingers crossed.
