Help with Easy Editing Software for Seniors

One I use that easy and free is Fast Stone. It's also a very nice photo viewer, it gives you exif data plus does all the simple edits you mention. It's a free download.

I believe there is no more PICASA. Google stopped using it. You might have it on your computer but you can not get it any more unless maybe through some other company....Rich

Watch out for Googles replacement for Picasa to push your father into the Cloud for picture storage. I believe the predominant reason for the demise of Picasa is that Google was not happy with the resistance to Cloud storage and the new app Photos is built much more on a Cloud storage model.
If you think your father is confused now, put him into Googles Cloud system
I do think that the snapseed app may be more what your father will take a shine to. I was also about to say that the apps that probably stay simple as you desire with be App Store apps for cell phones. They will often also load on regular computers and do simple editing in your computer.

Yes, Faststone is good. Simple.... MEH!
Based on the OP's statement about his father being confused by too many things on the screen... Those FlyOut menus from the side of the screen offer up as many tools as more complex editing programs. It's just not so obvious until you see the tool menus.
So, Please note that when you download FastStone Imageviewer, on the same download screen, you can also download a 90 page manual that is very good, and more than you get with other editors.
I use Faststone. I don't particularly think it's all that simple, but the download on the user manual helps a great deal.
Two best points... Free and well supported. The Manual is a bonus. Be sure to download that as well. Consider printing it out and putting it in a 3 ring binder.

What type of camera does he use? If a Nikon, they offer free software for downloading from camera to computer (Nikon Transfer2); free software for easy editing (View NX2); and free software for more complicated editing purposes (Capture NX-D). I am using PS Elements14. It is very versatile in that it can be used by a beginner or by a more experienced photographer. I got it on sale at Costco for $40.

I like Corel's Aftershot. It is simple and does most of the major post-production functions. Another option is Fastone which is free and there are others..

Evidently, I have offended a UHH member by saying that my Dad is almost 80 and would like a simple to use, inexpensive option for cropping and small exposure adjustments. I apologize if I offended anyone else with my post.
I was very surprised by a private message just sent to me schooling me how I was being offensive toward those older than me by insinuating that my Dad was not mentally capable of using PS or LR because of his age. That was not my intention. In fact, sometimes I wonder if I'm capable of using these programs at age 47! LOL...
I never imagined I couldn't ask a simple question like that without being accused of ageism...my sincere apologies.

If he uses a Canon, he should use the FREE(DPP) software that comes with the camera.
VERY easy to use, but I'll admit, not as easy as it used to be!! Good luck
