Of course, we could start one of our own, free of advertising, couldn't we? OR, if we just send photos at 72 dpi and sign them or write PROOF on them or something...

I suspect that there's not a lot to worry about with the 600 mpx wide shots but the "upload the original" which just popped up last week is another matter. Still, I don't like the whole idea personally. Like everyone else, I'd sure hate to see it all come to a halt because it has been very beneficial for several of us but if I have to give up or involuntarily share my image ownership, I'm outta here. I just don't get where they're coming from with this. If they don't respond to this thread then I'll email them unless someone else wants to do it. I'm cool with it.

I think we need to get an answer before we rush to judgment. This may be essentially boilerplate, with no real intent to use our images for gain. Let's give them a chance to answer at least.

Absolutely "no rush to judgement" but with a little look at background the company behind this site is not new - been around since 2004 and involved in other pursuits some of which has had them occupying seats in courtrooms. They also have a provision whereby you can buy their legal work for your site and my thinking is that if they didn't have something in mind, should've and could've left that clause out. This has only been going on since June and they've apparently been using that clause since long ago.

I'm absolutely all for "the benefit of the doubt" as well as wanting to be cautious. If they do come reply and assure us that it isn't what it appears to be, then I think they should not only remove that clause but put one in it's place that disavows all intent to the contrary, very specifically stated.

Anybody know who actually is Hedgehog owners/site holders?? I have a good friend who is a lawyer specializing in intellectual property. I'm going to shoot him this info to see if there is anything he can offer to us in the way of wise advice! It would make me so professionally sad to lose the influence of sharing in a learning process while potentially be taken advantage of from faceless owners.

That would be the only way to show true intent and the only way I would fee comfortable with this forum.

It does make me glad that I never post anything higher res than 72 dpi!

I feel as a group we should all send a private message to Admin. Lets make sure they understand their going to get a big drop in business if they don't respond soon. They make their money from advertisments. But.....maybe not all their money.

I never post anything at full resolution anywhere on the Internet. Principle.

When I first joined the forum I was negligent and failed to read all the "rules" thoroughly. My bad. My questions is this - would you please discuss the following excerpt from the rules in terms of what you folks plan on doing with the images we have posted and how, in light of the copyright law, watermarks, exif data, etc., do you propose to gain ownership of our images by virtue of us participating in this forum and then presume to use those images as you see fit? Thank you in advance for your response.

I must admit I didn't read all the rules either.

This saddens me, greatly.

I won't be posting any more photos, as what is stated under "Submissions" is pretty clear to me.

Blessings to all.
