Thanks Min,
I always shoot raw, in manual. I find the Sx50 a hard camera to use and took it out today to try for force myself to get better with it. I much prefer my Nikon SLRs.
As I go through and process my swamp shots, I'm finding that I tend to like to desaturate them and give them a kind of gritty feel that I don't usually employ in my work. It's an interesting break from the norm and I really enjoy your swamp work. Thanks for the advice and tips :)
Interesting and valid processing approach, and I applaud you for establishing your own "look" to your swamp images. I would think that the SLR would do better in the swamp than the sx50. Keep experimenting and showing us what you find. I go to my nearest swamp at least once a week (it's only 30-40 minutes from here, not sure how far you're having to travel), and try to go in all kinds of different weather and times of day, because it is always different. Mid-day on sunny days I am often very limited, because of the intense contrast, but sometimes even those days can produce interesting results, I just have to shoot differently. If you find a foggy morning, head there straight away because that is the swamp at her best! Keep it up!
