Anybody remember my feverish work on figuring out Lars Van de Goor's approach to landscape editing around Christmas?

My swamp is all decked out in greens now, and I thought I'd post a picture in her spring outfit ready to sing a new song.

For reference, here is the one I posted in the December discussion. http://www.uglyhedgehog.com/t-354296-1.html

For any kind of feedback, suggestions, edits, whatever.

Yeah, it is processed for a dreamy, kind of surreal look, like the first one was,

You say you went for a surreal kind of look - I'd say it looks like you captured the swamp on a really good day. Superreal rather than surreal (my favourite kind of editing).

Really great, esp as a starting point for PP experiments.

Now in the dream we just need an intruder in the form of a bird, animal or flower of a color that contrasts or compliments the whole scene
A bluebird or cardinal flying through one of those beams of light, a white egret wading or flying through. A flower or flowering vine in the shadows or on one of the trees.

Or a family of wood ducks swimming about.

Awesome, awesome! Breathtaking beauty, Minnie.

As a personal preference, I'd remove the blue patch from foreground, at bottom edge of frame. I'm positive you have a reason for leaving in, and I accept your vision in advance of knowing :)

Thank you RG, it was wonderful late day light, but I used the heck out of Photoshop to get more from it.

Interesting! I seldom see much wildlife in there except the gators (they may be why I don't see much else:)), but an egret might be nice and I certainly have a fine group of egrets to pick from in my dam photos. Maybe one of them would like to visit the swamp...

Thanks for the ideas!

Thanks Linda.

I was split on leaving the blue out but it was such a vivid blue sky that day, I decided to leave it. It might be a little too blue though, I'll fiddle...

Minnie, I like this image and even the other one from your other thread even more. However, I agree with Robert. To make it a stronger image it should have a bird of some sort for subject matter. Thats just my opinion.

The only way to get one there is to bring one in from a photo taken elsewhere. On this (my favorite side to photograph) no critter ever ventures. On the other side I get gators and turtles in summer but only the rare squirrel in winter.

However, we know I am not above importing. It seems that a nice egret would not be that hard to pop into the water... I don't think I could stand one in a tree though, the feet would be a real trick. Frank, now, might could do that...

Oh, I totally understand. I really wasn't referring to place something in your photo, which would also work. I was referring to future shooting, but as you said nothing ever ventures there so since it is your favorite side you just have to make do with whats available at the time.

I understand an outfit named PS Tours is well known for arranging trips like that.

Beautiful job Min, I never can seem to get any descent swamp shots. They always look too cluttered.

Love the processing min. For me a little more impact and interest is required so probably I'm in the bring in an egret crowd. Getting any impact from a bunch of trees and a pond is extremely difficult but you do it better than most that's for sure.

I try to make the most of it, but would not be averse to bringing in a stray egret. I did see one fly over one time:)
