Many people do extra steps like this that take extra time, and is totally unnecessary if you simply use a card reader. Or as others have said connect camera to computer and import. Either way saves time of creating a folder structure first. You can do this on the fly in the import screen. personally I think it's better to learn the quickest way to do things. Saving time is always a good thing.

third, download the photos from your card to your computer, you just need to click and drag the images from the sd card to a file you create on your hard drive
last, import your photos to lightroom. no additional programs are needed to do this, and when you are done, you will have a copy on your computer and a copy in lightroom.

Wrong, LR only has a pointer to where the files are located on your computer. It DOES NOT have a duplicate copy of the photo.

Listen, despite the fact that you like to go by the old "adage" that any time someone uses "CAP's," they're "Shouting;" I'm not of that School, or, Mind, whatsoever.

I buy into the fact, that Caps, are an option, on everyone's keyboard's, and that they ARE, TOO BE, USED, to provide Emphasis, and to Increase The Clarity, of that which one is attempting to convey,

Cap's do not hurt you physically, in any way whatsoever, do they?

Do they do some sort of Psychological, harm to you?

Perhaps, CAPS, harm you, Emotionally?

Maybe, then, they hurt you, Spiritually?

Well then, what is your problem, with me, or, anyone else, using them for emphasis in their posts?

Probably, the same reason, that you've got so many other hang ups, in your life...you're too restrictive...

There is nothing, whatsoever, wrong with using Caps, in a post!

All of this "Caps, is Poor Etiquette Stuff;" Is nothing but a fictitious "wive's tale," that is carried along, by uptight whiner's, such as you.

In perfectly honest and truthful reality, there is absolutely, nothing wrong, with using Caps whatsoever, except that whiner's such as yourself, come right up, out of the woodwork, to bellyache, and cry, and bitch about their use.

In itself, Caps are perfectly fine, and useful, upper case letters, which are much easier to read, and they also provide for a great, and significant contrast, to the lower case font, that is typically used.

This ARBITRARY linking, of the use of capital letters, with the act of shouting, is as bogus, and fictions, as Ground Hog's Day!

Certainly, there are surely some people, who do, become angry, and irate, concerning some issue, and they will spout off, using all Capital Letters.

Yet, this is obvious, that they are acting out, in a malicious way!

This is clearly, not what I have done, in my post.

You are simply, shooting your mouth off, about my use of Capital Letters, out of your own reflex action.

You have place correcting me, for my use of capital letters, in my own post.

Yet, by adhering to that ancient, and outdated way of thinking, you are giving up, exactly, ONE HALF OF YOUR KEYBOARD'S, AND YOUR OWN ALPHABETICAL, AND TEXTUAL (Colorspace...) eg.TEXT SPACE....

By completely forgoing, entirely, the total usage, of all of the capital letters which can be utilized, to greatly increase the clarity of

THREFORE...It is better to begin to revolt against, the old and previously, incorrectly established, adage...That any use of, Capital Letter's, automatically equates to, "Shouting," when they are used

And, the rules, of the UHH, do permit the use of some capital letters within posts.

Boy am I glad I grew up in the South Bronx. Words in capital letters are a so what. You want to know what belligerent screaming is; the three Marine Corp Drill instructors I had in July 1960 at Parris Island. Everything else pales in comparison.

Here's my work flow:

1. Take the card out of the camera and either put it in the computer or a card reader.
2. Create a subdirectory on the hard drive where you want the photos to reside.
3. Drag and drop copy the files from the card to the directory you've just created.
4. Open Lightroom and click File/Import Photos and Video.
5. Select the directory you created and click Import.

Works every time!
