Welcome to Day 122 :) It's May Day today and our challenge is Celebrations from Childhood. What do your children and grandchildren do to celebrate? Whether it's birthdays, holidays or whatever... how do they have fun.
What are they going to remember in 40 years ?
When I was a kid we used to make up baskets of goodies and put them on peoples doorsteps. I haven't seen that done in a very long time. We also used to do a Maypole dance .. haven't seen that in a long time either but I did find one place here in town that was putting it on.
Here are a few examples to get us started ... I look forward to seeing what y'all come up with.

OH yes great photos PG really like the may pole pretty and cool
I too have heard of the maypole but never saw it and yours is beautiful and a great explanation.
k-6 I walked to school. I did not need the brown bag because we actually walked home for lunch and back to school for the afternoon. It was about a mile. could you imagine that today?
ok this is a real risk I am taking here...so please be kind. My birthday is in may and a while back my mom gave me a bunch of pics to scan...here is one. not sure what age. It was a birthday celebration with some of the neighborhood kids...probably went bowling or miniature golf playing or movies, and then back home for cake and icecream...what else?
This year I will be celebrating my 55th in another country.
no kids, no grandkids, so you are stuck with me.
btw...the blond in the middle was my next door neighbor growing up...she was in one of the twin towers when it came down...she did not come home.

I not only remember the Maypole. I danced it once. Was probably 6 YO. I remember being so proud of it and how pretty it was.
How neat...i never did that..happy to see you are back with us! How are you feeling?
Rivernan and I had the same idea. So here are a few of my old black & Whites when we were involved in MAY DAY programs as a child. We did participate in May Day activities but never got to "dance around the May Pole".

My brother & friend were May Day King & Queen in this program

My bday is in May too!!!! And no kids or grandkids either. Are you the one holding the stuffed animal? How sweet that you have the pic of the woman who died...which of course is very very sad. You will have a wonderful celebration!!! We will be with you in spirit.

It's probably because I'm older & from a very small town! We loved the May Day programs...but we moved the year after these were taken & weren't involved in any more May Day programs either

Are you the one on the top left? What country are you going to be in on your birthday? Great photo but sad.
I don't ever remember doing anything special for May day, so we never had that tradition to pass on. Here's a couple old pictures from my younger years. My dad wrote on all the old photos like that
Me and my brother and sister
I'm the 1 with brown shorts, I was 15 in this picture
