Haven't figured out the delay factor yet.

Dave[/quote]

I'm not sure if this is what is going on. I bought my girlfriend a canon p&s and it had a delay when pressing the shutter button and when the shutter actuated. We figured out through trial and error with the user manual that if you press the shutter button down half way only and let the auto focus acquire focus then press the button fully down and there was no delay. If you tried to press the button fully in one motion, there was a photo ruining delay. Hopes this helps?

I use PS 7 & CS4 - because I started with PS 10 yrs ago and never change - always upgraded -
I never use my screen for anything but editing - deleting non-keepers - I find it much better / easier composing my shot through the viewfinder + it save on battery
If you are more comfortable using the screen they make screen shades that fit most cameras.

You are correct Mooneyes. I mean the time between the "half press" for focus, and the time the "shutter " opens. See the trap shoot picture . I've tried about a dozen shots to get the target broken in the air with no success, but with 35mm. , it's not too difficult . When you get a feel for the timing of the shooter , it isn't bad to do. Same trouble with shot timing with pets, kids, ect.

Have you tried the "burst" mode - it was the only way I got passing jets at an air show.

I have a Pentax Optio A20 camera and It does not have 'burst", a feature that I would have some use for. It also is only a screen camera , ( no veiwfinder) , so it has some limits. I like the camera to carry hunting and out doors , shirt pocket sized , easy to use for snapshots, but doing more complicated stuff is hard for me .
I have large hands (don't wear gloves in winter ..) not big enough,so that is why I'm lookin' for another camera.

Marvelous! One and Two are enviable landscape shots. Wish I could do as well.
All the best,

I personally do not care for the screen back cameras because of the problem that you mentioned.
When I use digital I use a 20d mounted on a Sinar view camera.
I get most of the benefits of the view camera along with most of the benefits of the digital.
I am an antique so most of the time I shoot with a 120 6x7 roll film back. Good luck and rmemeber "KEEP SHOOTINF"

Dave I know just what you have my first Digital was like that-I was very fortunate to have found this camera and yes those small buttons and switches are hard for my older chubby finger LOL -
I too hate gloves - for me they just seem to get in the way.

I am so new to this that I'm trying an experiment . These pics are my first attempt at picasa and I invite any comments your would like to make. I'm finding things that I dislike about the screen backed cameras as I find them difficult to use outdoors. And, Haven't figured out the delay factor yet.

Dave, to help solve the issues with the viewer screen, the following site offers hoods specific cameras, but is a start. Hope it will help.
