You built my case for the Tamron & Tokina Lenses.
They need no updates or tweaking.
They work perfect right out of the box.

I guess that is why Tamron JUST released their own USB Dock system for updating their lenses?
To state ANY lens works perfect right out of the box is a ludicrous statement and only says to those reading that YOU are willing to settle for "out-of-the-box" quality and have no interest in perfecting or even improving what you have.
Tamrons 150-600mm was completely pulled off the market for 3 months shortly after shipments began for "firmware updates", so much for perfect right out of the box.
As for Tokina, its clear that even Samyang outsells Tokina, they are a VERY small player in the lens market and have yet to perfect high speed autofocus motors for their lenses, there is a reason they are last in the race.
But if you are happy, fine, but there is absolutely no reason at all for your childish remarks directed at others who do not agree with your OPINION, as that's exactly what it is, merely your opinion based on a very limited number of lens purchases by your own admission.

Clearly this is the prevalent fact. To deny Tamrons own "Dock" system shows a definite lack of market knowledge in making such statements.

The Tamron TAP-in Console is only for 4 select Lenses the 35mm 45mm 85mm & 90mm. All Prime lenses not the entire line of Tamrons.
Do your research before you make uninformed statements

The Sigma dock does not work on all of their lenses either. You Sir are the one that needs to do some research, though I doubt you will see much with your blinders on :|

As an Authorized Tamron AND Sigma dealer, I know all about both companies offerings. AND I
UNDERSTAND them. Clearly you do not.

Any lens that requires constant updating is dumb. Note: I said requires.

Cameras get updated all the time. Is that dumb too? Updates are not always to fix glitches. Sometimes they are for improvements as tech gets better.
I would prefer to have my equipment evolve without the need to buy another version to get those improvements.
I have the 150-600 C. Guess I need to get a dock. How difficult is it to update with the dock?
Regardless of any arguments going on here, I am appreciative of the heads up and did the firmware update on my 150-600 C. I'm going out in the morning to see if it did indeed speed up the AF when zoomed in. I love this dock, I also have the 18-300 and did slightly tune it last year, rather than go through micro adjusting it with my camera body. The body only tunes one focal length, the dock can do four different focal lengths. I personally feel being able to do that, rather than jacking around with multiple bodies or sending BOTH the body and the lens into the manufacturer is a real plus. And yes, both lenses were just fine right out of the box, I just applied a very minor tweak with the dock on the 18-300. Cheers everybody.

Extremely easy. I'm not so certain the dock is "needed" but, it is very handy to have if you care to make use of all the features. ;) Of course for the updates, it is needed.

Go back and read my post. Hopefully, that will answer your dumb question.

So, would you explain the purpose of this statement?
