A word of caution....and Thankfully I caught it on time, I run Win 7 on all my computers and refuse to up to Win 10 (won't go into why not, to long a story) so anyway, as everyone else I keep getting the pop up reminders to upgrade and I continue to uninstall the installer (KB3035583 update file) But unless you turn off auto update window, it will return. Well this morning I turn on my monitor, (I never shut down my network) and to my surprise Windows 10 installed itself overnight... I woke to a screen asking if I was who I am and accept or decline the install...I answered No and declined... So my machine rolled back and restored my computer back to Window 7 but took an hour....so beware, they are pushing ....BYW, there is no one that uses my computer but me and I know I didn't okay the install. There is a few articals about unauthorized upgrades, so beware if your one who doesn't want Win 10.

Seeing that screen must have been a heart stopping moment.

I had the opposite experience. My Windoze 7 laptop kept bugging me to "upgrade" to Windoze 10. Micro$oft eventually wore me down to saying "Yes". After some time, it said that my laptop isn't compatible with Win 10 and can't upgrade. YESSS !!!

Lucky you.....

That is why I have set my preferences to require that I initiate any installation of patches... It is my suspicion that microsoft wants everyone to upgrade then they will go the way of adobe and want a yearly fee to use their software (subscription) Just my opinion

Happened to me on my second system also. I will be checking to see if there is any way to stop this. I purchased the computer with windows on it and don't remember authorizing Microsoft to make a operating system change without my authorization.
Is this legal?
I may just scrap my windows computers and switch over to Apple as I'm due to update my older Mac. Expensive yes but it will keep Microsoft out of my system. Yes I dislike what they do that much.

Apple isn't much better. I received a gift of a Mac Book Pro from my son (mid-2012). Unfortunately, it came with OS X El Capitan installed.

I have never, in 50 years of using computers, seen a worse piece of crap than El Capitan. Apple got way ahead of outside vendors, and I cannot install any of the photo editing software (Nikon View NX i, or Adobe PSE 12) that I would like to have in order to do some field editing.

I may have finally found a solution on eBay, for an install for OS X Yosemite. But forget any help from Apple. As soon as El Capitan became their latest offering, they deleted any opportunity to purchase Yosemite.

I am running Mavericks on my 27" iMac, and that's works just fine for all my needs.

But if you think Windoze 10 is bad, check out El Capitan. Whew!

I set my pc to , update nothing without getting an I agree , or have to manually agree , no auto updates. No respect, I ,caught windows 10 loading , I had to stop it, .
I will go Mack when 7 is no longer supported. Microsoft, you should, give an agreement, That if you like windows 7 ,You can keep windows 7 .If you like control of your PC you can keep control of your PC, And not break that promise.

You can get a 250 or 500 Gig SSD for not too much money.

The one I got a few days ago was just $150, quite a bit cheaper than months ago. With the OS and all my programs, the 500GB drive is less than half full.

Not sure what's worse, being controlled by MS or by Apple, either way, like it or not, they both have you by the short hairs...(excuse my French) they know it and they love it...and all your smaller guys like Adobe, the cloud, just to mention a couple...are all jumping on board.

Maybe Windows 10 is a NSA or Homeland Security plot to place an operating system they can monitor easily on all the computers in the country.
It could be CIA plot to monitor computers in other countries.
Have theylewrned from North Korea?

Restore your PC to a date prior to 10 install, then download the GTW Control Panel (see my link above)...and use it. So far, all 3 of my computers for a week now are Win 10 Free....no pop ups, got rid of Win 10 that took it upon itself to install.
