Here is a discussion that will hopefully get us thinking in a new direction regarding feedback:
I have no problem with you advertising your wares on my thread it would however be a tad more acceptable and polite if like every other visitor you passed comment and gave an opinion on the subject of the thread.
Im sure it was an oversight on your part but as a gal seemingly worried about lack of respect on FYC it sorta smacks of it?
If your an Avon lady or hold Victoria Principals parties feel free to advertise on my threads in future but just pass comment on the work on show first.
Respectfully Billy

Thanks Billy! That makes me feel a lot better! :-)

Billy, this is a considerably wonderful bit of work. You've captured just about everything about this person.
In addition, the reworked image really boosts the quality level immensely. You've captured the personality and essence of the subject.

Well I guess I fit somewhere in between. I agree pulling the light back on the ears and nose has minimised the 'stripe of light' feel and lifting the eyes a tad has helped to emphasise the contact between you and the subject but I liked the depth of the original for the rest of the pic. Or maybe I am more used to the bright intensity of light that living in this part of the world brings. But the essence of the pic is the instant smile, a 'whole-face' smile. You must be one good looking bloke to evoke that sort of reaction in your subjects. Only nitpick are the three dots of light on the upper left and the background splodges middle right, for me they distract a little. But apart from that its a good one.
Catch you soon.
Peter
Bob Peter Thank you both. I was always of the opinion this actually deserved more merit than it was being given in some quarters.

Fades nicely into the background. Catch lights in the eyes are a big plus. Everything is sharp. Very good detail. All that is nice; but for some reason his expression and the way the photo was done make it hard to look away. That makes it a very successful image. It is not very pretty; but it is captivating.
