I would get the Sony Brand 18-135mm lens to complement your 55-300mm. Those two will cover wide to far, to 300mm focal length.

I am a sony shooter too I have an ancient a100, a99 and an rx100 m3 years ago I owned Minolta srt101 and Maxxum. The Minolta Maxxum (autofocus lenses) not only fit on the Sony A mount camera but work great and are very inexpensive. so that would be the target I would pursue. You can check some of the larger photo stores like B&H and Adorama used departments, try amazon and finally Ebay

Thought I would check with fellow Hoggers to see if anyone has any lenses they would like to sell before going to Ebay & such.

I am looking for Macro lens, a wide angle lens for sure & possibly a longer zoom lens. I know it needs to be an a-mount, I know I can use some Minolta lenses.

I have an a77 that I purchased in Dec of 2012. I have been using a 55-300mm Sony lens. (the only lens I have). I am very comfortable with my camera. I like the feel of it & do not plan to get rid of it or trade up in the near future - of course when that day comes, I will get another Sony. Love them! & all my lenses will work with my new Sony ;)

Thanks for your time.

I own a veritable arsenal of newer Sony & third-party lenses and vintage Minolta glass. I'm not sure exactly, but I have at least two dozen lenses in all. My go-to source for most of my Sony & Minolta lens info is www.dyxum.com.

The Sony 18-135 that another recommended is indeed an excellent lens, and it was my walk-around, but it doesn't quite have the reach I wanted, even on a crop. I went up the to Sigma 18-250 macro and I'm much happier. It has excellent IQ for a lens with that range, surprising me at times. This would be my primary recommendation, and be sure of the macro model which is reported to outperform the non-macro model and even other lenses with a similar range.

What kind of specialty shooting, if any, do you plan to do? For example, portrait, nightscape, true macro, sports, etc. All of my lenses are designed to serve a specific purpose, whether being general purpose (like the 18-135mm and the 18-250mm), sports/wildlife (Sony 70-400mm G), landscape (Tokina 11-16mm f2.8) or nightscape (Rokinon 24mm f1.4), and so on.

Sorry I am not selling any lenses. I only recommended the 18-135mm lens. Price brand new. $500.00.

I'll second the www.dyxum.com reference. It is my go-to-source as well. The lens section is unparalleled.

Recently I bought a Pro Cyber 1.2 IS.43X high def wide angle lens with macro. I have only tried the macro and found it closer than the 18-300 Nikon I have mounted.
Have not tried the wide angle as yet.

I need a zoom to get the birds of prey, which is my passion. But I would also like to do true Macro shots too & lastly, I like to shoot landscape/scenery & my only lens just doesn't get any of that. Although I have captured some good shots with my 55-300 - I just need something that gets me farther.... Guess I will just save up & get the 150-600. & then get a Macro when I can. We used to have some camera shops but they have all since disappeared.... closest camera places are over an hour away & I don't even live in the sticks, lol. :D

Hey there, take a look at the tamron 20-40 f2.7-3.5 wide angle lens. I too have the Sony a77 and really like a lot, and have that lens which I purchase some time ago for my Minolta 700si slr. Just did a brief search on that tamron and it's still quite popular and a keeper with owners. I do know it's a little hard to find used but would be a great lens to have. I actually was going to offer it up on the chopping block but, just can't part with it just yet!! Anywho, good luck with the search!
