I have been a huge fan since the early 70s'.
I saw him in concert a few times, first was with James Dewar, the original vocalist.
This is pure magic.
here is one of the comments,
"robin trower is the most underated performers of all time not to mention this song which is awesome".

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xos5c4GQyHA

You will know if you love it in the first three notes.

Best guitarist ever? Did you ever hear about Randy Rhoads? And others as well.

Absolutely but Trower has always been my favorite.
This is a comment on Bridge of sighs,
"Why isn't Trower listed among the best all time guitarists????????????"

His playing defies gravity. Here is Bridge of sighs.

All that sound and he makes it look easy.

I listen to all types of music and guitarists but Trower has a special place in my collection.

lorenww - That isn't music...it's vocal and instrumental noise, and that's all it is.............noise! With a very few exceptions, music was abandoned starting in the late ' 50s, and continues to this day.

Best ever? So many genres, so many wonderful musicians.

Personally, I can only ever commit to "Best Ever, For Me, This Month", and it's a double bass player...Jimmy Sutton!

I saw and heard these boys in a 700 person room last week. "Best Performance Ever!" lol

JD McPherson .."Scratching Circles"

"It's all about getting the girls to dance." JD McPherson

Good stuff to be sure, but I would have do disagree with your "best" statement. Too many other great guitarists.

My favorite is even more acclaimed.

@Earworms, I love Hendrix.
Glad you drew the comparison.
Everyone has their musical sweet spot.
If I were on an island and had a choice of Hendrix or Trower, Trower would be my pick. I would sorely miss Hendrix.
@Jackel old songs like blue velvet and all those oldies I love. Kisses sweeter than wine is a classic as well as wolveton mountain.

Born in 59 I have kept up with the music scene.
Englebert Humperstien Herb Albert.
I love it all.
I embrace punk, new wave, thrash.
Saw Slayer Anthrax and Megadeth.
Also saw Primus, Violent Femms and stone temple pirates.
Last awesome concert was Cage the Elephant.
Check this out,

I just think Trower is awesome, not knocking any other band.
As a matter of fact this is one of my favorite bands now and several of my friends agree.
When I first heard this I thought WTF is this, this is the worst thing I have heard.

This is now a favorite in our house.
Another song that I thought was a total embarrassing song was,
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u5CVsCnxyXg
And now my favorite.
Music is in the eye of the beholder, I have an open mind.
I enjoy all kinds of music, no matter how crazy or bluesy or old stuff.
Trower rocks.

Plenty of great guitarists, so I won't mention them all. However another on of my favorites didn't even make the top 100 list at Rolling Stone Magazine. Have you ever heard Tommy Bolin?

I was lucky enough to see Tommy Bolin before he was tragically taken from us too soon. I also saw my all-time favorite Jimi Hendrix, which I will never forget.

My favorite living electric guitarist is Jeff Beck:

Another favorite, not as well known, is Richard Thompson, world class on both acoustic and electric, and one of the best songwriters on the planet:

Huge Trower fan here.

He's the reason I bought a Cream on Cream Strat in my teens. I learned his whole Live in Stockholm album and wore it out.

PS: Sorry your thread turned into a debate on who's the best guitarist but you know how the internet is...it brings out the boor in folks.
