I have an opportunity to pick up a Sigma 150-500 Lens for my D800. Although I'd plan to use it for BIF, the reality is its mostly a bad case of GAS. I was initially looking at the Sigma 150-600, I know someone selling the 150-500 for $400.00.
Is it worth it? Advice from anyone that might have this lens would be appreciated.
Thanks
Here is how they compare.

Well that chart doesn't bode well for my purchase. Although for what I have invested in it now ($100.00) Plus a phone call to Sigma where they gave me a "Guestimate" of $160 for repairs. I might not fair too bad. I mean even though it doesn't score the best, for a $260.00 investment, I think I'm pleased. Time will tell though.
Go get the 150-500 before some one else does.
You'll love it.
Nuff Said.

Wouldn't worry about what the chart says, I have the Canon version of this lens and mine is very sharp and I have been very happy with it. I bought it new a couple of Christmas' ago at $899 new (seven year warranty in Canada). Your price is a great deal.

I think you answered your own question.
Well, I got the lens back from Sigma, (Actually Kurts Camera) and I couldn't be happier. Repair costs ran $141.00 with shipping. The lens is AWESOME. For what I have invested in it ($241 total) It might be the biggest bargain in my Camera Bag. It seems Sharp, Contrasty, and the Brokah is better than I expected. I have no other long lens to compare it to, and maybe that's a good thing.
I'd highly recommend Kurts Camera Repair, they'll get all my Nikon & Sigma service in the future.
