Three of my best photos. That really is such a difficult concept. I tend to go back and rework pics, particularly those taken within the last couple of years so if I am still working on them then they are not my best.... yet. So what I have gone for is three pics that I took some time back. I go back to them when I get stuck for inspiration because each one marks what at the time was a bit of a breakthrough on my photographic journey.
The first I took in Canada on the streets of Vancouver. I don't know what this guy was on but he just hung there, limp, smoke hanging out of his mouth. But he could play, oh could he play. It was one of my first attempts at a BW conversion of a person because I generally don't do people. The second I have no idea why I like it but I always have. But it was when I was first getting to grips with HDR and in this case I was trying to create something that could serve as a CD cover. And as a fanatical whale watcher I have to include at least one of the thousands of whale pics I have. This one breached right next to the boat and the beauty was that after a lot of experimenting, I had finally worked out the optimum settings to capture just such a breach.
