Hello, fellow Hedgehogs. I am looking for suggestions for inkjet photo paper. I will be printing strictly for personal use, probably to a max size of 8x10 inches. I will be using an Epson printer. Thanks in advance for your help.

Red River paper is a great place to start. http://www.redrivercatalog.com/

If what you're really wanting is results, then I'll suggest EPSON paper for your EPSON printer.
And, since you didn't ask - EPSON INK, too.
On the other hand, if what you want is to 'experiment' - then, by all means, buy sample packs of other papers, or small packs of the other papers.

I only use Epson ink. I made the mistake of using aftermarket brands in the past. The hassle just isn't worth it. I'll have to look at the different papers from Epson in my area. Thanks.

If you are looking for economy try Costco, online they have photo paper. It is under office products. 150 sheets of 8.5x11 for $18.99
They seem to change who they get it from every so often. The last box I bought was made by Mitsubishi.
I use it for the display pics I take to photo club. For wall hangers etc. I use Canon photo papers and Red River photo papers in my Canon Pro-100 printer.

I just received my pro-100 and am curious what Red River papers you've tried and were happy with the outcome, specifically black and white. Thanks.

I have an Epson 837 printer and I buy mine at Costco, mail order. It has always worked well.

I've used their Pro Platinum, Semi gloss, Pecos River Gloss 7X10 Scored card stock. All with no problems.
You might want to order some of their Sample kits, I did that and still have a bunch left to try. Sample kits are relatively inexpensive and will give you an idea of what you like.

I would use Epson paper on the Epson printer. Try their sample pack. Personally, I love the hot press bright and the hot press natural.

There are many good brands of paper. The paper you choose depends on your end use.

From Epson, I like their full line, available from their web site, or many other retailers.

I also trust Red River, Moab, Canson, Ilford Galerie, Magic Inkjet, and Hahnemuhle brands. Google 'inkjet photo paper suppliers' and find dealers who will send samples. Some send swatch books, and some send letter-size sample papers. Others send printed samples.

When you installed the Epson driver for your printer, it installed generic ICC profiles for Epson papers. Other GOOD photo paper suppliers will supply profiles for the most popular photo printers. Having a good, matching profile for the paper you are using is a virtual necessity for accurate color AND black-and-white printing.

Before you buy third party papers, BE SURE you can get ICC profiles for your specific brand/model of printer, or that you are equipped with a system to make your own paper profiles. Kits to do that are available from X-RITE and DataColor, but they are pricey.

I've used various brands of photo paper but have settled on the Costco/Kirkland photo paper. Very affordable, always great prints, and never a complaint.

I use mostly the luster and metallic finish papers.
As to B&W, I do a little conversion but I honestly can't remember the last time I printed a B&W. And when I did I was using Canon matte, glossy, and luster.
