This does not relate directly, but the weakness in video is the audio. Either plan on using a digital recorder with a good shotgun mic (You can rent both of these fairly inexpensively.) Then sync them up afterward. Or, if you are going to use the built in audio, use a shockmount, shotgun mic. Nothing ruins amateur video as much as poor audio with high ambient noise including camera noise.

I used an external mic mounted a few inches above the camera to avoid picking up any lens noise. Both audio and video turned out ok.

I would do manual focus and get away from the focus hunt issue. Any dslr that shoots 1080 video should be about the same as another - at least in my experience.

Best of luck.

I had movie AF servo enabled and used facial recognition/tracking AF mode. There was good consistent lighting so I just set the camera on full auto; let those dual digic 6 processors do their job. I had an EF 28-300 f/3.5-5.6L lens mounted and it worked quite well. I find the push pull zoom easier to use when shooting video.
