CANON question about shooting video

I plan on shooting some videos this weekend and I always use my 70D for video. The 70D is currently tied up in a long term time lapse project so I need to use a different body. I've got a 5Dsr, 6D and 7DII available. I used the 5Dsr once before for video, at a TSO concert, and although it did a decent job I had focus issues. The location I will be videoing this weekend won't be as dark or have the light changes a TSO concert has. My question, which would be the better choice of the 3 bodies for shooting video. The subject will be bands on a stage.

DSLRs commonly focus hunt while shooting video. Camcorders generally do better. DSLRs exacerbate the problem with larger sensors and bigger lenses with more shallow depth of field. The "trick" is to lock focus or manual focus, especially in lower light levels when the lens may be more wide open.

The other question for me would be the available video settings in the three choices. Which ones shoot HD and can any do 1920x1080p60?

I had a few minutes so I logged onto the CANON website and did some research. The 7DII is the better of the 3 for shooting Video.

I did a compare of the 3 and the 7DII uses MOV or MP4 format, 1080@60fps and has better AF and ISO range. I'll use the 5Dsr for stills.

Dual pixel AF for video AF would be a plus.

Actually, now that you've mentioned it, I just may swap out the 70D for the 7DII and take the 70D with me for the videos. The 70D is currently part of a multi month time lapse project but the 7DII certainly could fill in for a couple days.

If the 70D is not ready, then use the new 7D MKII

The 7D MK II may have a slight edge in the final image quality, but the 70D has the advantage of the touch screen for AF during LiveView and video recording. Depending on what you are shooting, both cameras have their advantages and disadvantages. I would probably opt for the 70D for video.

This does not relate directly, but the weakness in video is the audio. Either plan on using a digital recorder with a good shotgun mic (You can rent both of these fairly inexpensively.) Then sync them up afterward. Or, if you are going to use the built in audio, use a shockmount, shotgun mic. Nothing ruins amateur video as much as poor audio with high ambient noise including camera noise.

I would do manual focus and get away from the focus hunt issue. Any dslr that shoots 1080 video should be about the same as another - at least in my experience.

Best of luck.
