Does anyone make a quality and reasonably priced backpack that will carry a DSLR with the Tamron or Sigma 150-600 mounted? Thanks.

Define reasonably priced. A good photo backpack that will handle airline treatment will be hundreds of dollars. A backpack that's big enough, and strong enough to carry it can be had < $100.

Hello Jim

There are many backpacks on the market for photo gear it will be hard to figure out. I myself have been a fan of Lowepro bags for many years, this company Lowepro if I remember was the one who started all this type of way of carrying photogear. Right now I use two types of Lowepro bags ones a sling type and the other is a day bag for a little less equipment. Go up to there Internet site check them out.

I use LowePro myself and they travel well. That is why I asked about price. The lens Treker 600 is around $300.

Depending on where/how it will be used, any good backpack with some added foam rubber may be enough.

I love my Lowepro Slingshot which comes in a couple of sizes. It has the advantage of "on tummy" access in addition to carrying on your back.

Do you have the Tamron mounted on the body or stored separately?

Separate. It would probably work ok mounted. Just my choice. The center top section of the bag is wide enough to handle most bodies.

I have the Flips idea 300, also available at B&H, but it might not be large enough for you. I often keep my 55-200 mounted with lots of room to spare in the main center compartment. Under the bottom of the flap, what that view doesn't show, is that there are 3 more compartments, one at the bottom of each column of compartments.

The only lens that I carry separately, is my large Sigma macro lens. I hang that one off the outside of the backpack, because it came with its own sturdy lens case.

Yes, good choice. Lowepro has some nice features that I really like, such as security, all weather cover, etc.
