I use a Cannon 7 D with a wide angle lense, 28/135mm,ultrasonic,and i am so flustrated with blur. It focuses and then whenI get to the computer I want to scream. Not all are blurred but I'm freaking out. I want clear crisp pictures, HELP!! I JUST used the 70/200 today in raw and I'm even more freaked out. I have doubles and haven't a clue on how to adjust them. I give up! Still blur!

Can you post a sample along with the settings used? I'm willing to bet it's either camera shake or motion blur.

I have the same camera and lens, but not the problem. Check the Image Stabilization otherwise it may be something worse. As stated, please post a sample.

Might want to also mention what auto focus mode, if any, that you are using. Sometimes the camera is not focusing on what you want it to, which is easily remedied and often the reason why many photos may look blurry. 8-)

If you post a picture and check the box for save original , maybe it will help to find the problem

I will send a picture from a wedding I took. I used the canon 7D and a canon rebel T3. I mixed it up from Auto on the T3 and TV mode on the 7d. It set the F stop if that is correct. I did hold the camera but it has a stabilizer on the lense. i even have the problem on the tripod. IM at my wits end and feel very unorganized with my photography. Makes me want to just hang it up. I can't remember having this problem with my first digital, a canon XTI. CHANGE! Thanks for the advice, I'll get some pictures up asap.

IS won't stop camera shake if the shutter speed is to slow, it helps but it isn't the end all be all. If using a tripod, you need to turn the IS off, because believe it or not when the camera is so still the IS will acutally cause the camera to move evey so slightly.

Why are you shooting on TV and if you are what was the time?I would have used AV and then set your F-stop but thats me.

IM sorry it was Av, I use TV
for baseball and such. I shot in clear, sunny day , but where it gets frustrating is everyone, (photographers) each have a different opinion and being new at the digital game, I try those opinions and I don't get the same results. But I will keep reading and asking . Thx!

Couple of things that haven't been mentioned yet. First of all auto focus isn't always reliable... switch to manual focus and turn on the beep in the camera (in my Canon it's in the first menu) that way when you are manually focusing, and you have the shutter pushed half way in, it will beep when it's focused. I find that very helpful.
Also have you adjusted the diopter for your eyesight? There is a tiny dial near the viewfinder ... point the camera at anything ... ignore whatever you are pointing it at and just look at the focal points ... turn that tiny dial until the boxes are in good focus... that really makes a huge difference for me ( I wear glasses ).

Ask a hundred photographers how to do something and you will get a hundred different answers.

Seriously though we haven't seen any of your images so we are all guessing here...

Really all these guesses are usless and will not help you. You need to actually post a pictures with the settings used for people to tell you what might be going wrong.

could be to slow of a shutter speed, could be a diopler issue, could be your auto focus system, could be your lens is front focusing or back focusing. It's all a guess and will leave you even more frustrated with your camera.

Could you post a full sized picture so we can look at the meta data? This would make it easier to offer suggestions. Don't worry, we're from the govt. and we're here to help.

Hi, Photogrl57!

In manual focus, would the camera not beep at the same focus point that it would have if it had been in autofocus?

I have wondered about this since I got my Canon T3i in February. I have run some tests but haven't been able to tell the difference. My vision is actually getting pretty bad.

Thank you.
