Oh, only a dozen or so....
But chaps (why does it seem we are mostly men?), I have never done a forum before this, so I'm mostly at sea.
Okay, having said that...first question...how do I get a look at the work of my fellow forum members?
Second...I posted a few shots earlier today..well, about 3 or 4,AM...and now I can't find them. I'm sure it was my fault, but what did I do?
Third..I will make this the last for tonite...I have said that I am a painter, not a photographer. In a professional way, that is. Should I come across one of my paintings that I think may interest folk,is it okay to...only occasionally, mind...to post it here. I realize this is a photo forum, but I just wonder .

Hi David, and welcome. Lots of women here, by the way, including some of the most talented photographers and best contributors.

Check out the links at the top of each page. "My Posts" will take you to your posts. "Watched topics" will take you to topics you have posted on or started. Many members have links in their signatures to their galleries. If you click on their username, you can then see the topics they have started and see images they have posted here.

This link will take you to a complete list of all of the sections here. (Member moderated speciality sections do not appear on the home page.)

This link takes you to rules, how-tos, etc.:

Here is the link to your posts:

Look under 'my topics' and you will find your threads.

You likely posted them in the wrong forum so the admin moved them. You should have received a MSG to inform you. If not, you must have a part highlighted in yellow over 'my message'. You get that every time someone sends you a private MSG.

As to where you will find folks picture, simple, open the gallery.

A more pointed way, click on the user name and then click on 'topics'. Anything that has 'gallery' is that person's post there.

Many thanks, MIKE.

Im sure it will all come clear in time.

I did not mean to leave the impression that I ain't having fun,m'cause I am.

I want to look at you chap's work and get to some in comments of my own. I was a teacher (drawing/painting) for a long time and the urge to critique is powerful stuff.

Thanks again.

You have a good eye. As a teacher you have knowledge of techniques, such as the "Dutch angle". Keep shootin'.

I want you to be aware of several 'specialty' forums, such as macro, astro, Birds-In-Flight, wedding, sports, etc.
On your home page, click on the last section labeled All Sections to reveal ALL of the sections available to you. When you 'subscribe', that section will then appear on your UHH home page.

You obviously have a desire & a knack for architectural studies. I believe that an Architectural Photography Forum is needed, and would be a good place for you to post your images. See if you can find fellow UHH members with similar architectural interests as yours.

You might be in wrong forum. Or it might be Jerry Brown syndrome?

Can we assume that you posted your shots in the Photo Gallery? If you did, you need to appreciate that it's a busy place and things disappear off of page one quite quickly. New stuff gets added to page 1 and it displaces stuff that ends up being moved up the page list.

You can find your own stuff in My Topics, but for finding others' posts in general you need to learn how to navigate the pages. Use the page finder in the top and bottom right hand corners of the Gallery pages.

To find out what threads have been created by other members, click on their user name on the left above their avatar (this takes you to their profile page), then click on the word (list) where you see -

Number of topics created: XX (list).

Forum sections that you might be interested in include Photo Critique Section, For Your Consideration (especially for the art-oriented stuff), Post Processing Digital Images (includes lots of abstract processing).

I don't see your predominantly art background being a problem in photography. It's been noted often enough that the skills set of photographers isn't that different from those required to be an artist, especially when it comes to the "seeing" skills.
