Always like looking at your "trademark" lighting and the way it gives dimension and mood to your subjects.

As for the metaphor, I'm with you. It always troubled me that the bird in these contraptions, after completing its task, was once again imprisoned behind a rapidly slamming door.

Thank you so much Dan... :) Not sure if it is trademark, but I certainly admire lighting in many old world and Dutch Master paintings..... This bird is now free after many years of service... :)

Hi, Randy,
Another exceptional "character study" of the detritus of civilization.
The box has long since become a familiar feature, and leads me to wonder if you've been influenced by Cornell's "box sculptures"?

Thanks Dave.. :) I had never heard of him, but just looked him up... Right up my alley.. I am a new fan of his works and certainly can appreciate what he put into them.. Thank you..

In my opinion, Cornell would likewise have been a fan of your images!

Just an outstanding composition taken with photography skill finished with some PP touches. This moved me a bunch. I would like to have half your talent as an artist. I went to your View Bug site and realized this is just a sampling of your style. Congratulations on your work. Jim

Well, that old crate has seen some stuff come and go over the years Randy - now it's lost the cuckoo! I can't get too deep with the story side, but the artistry is superb. I'd like to see it in download but suspect it could either be a touch warmer or darker - it may be that I'm on the laptop but there seems to be a slight haze? I'll look later on the mac. Always enjoy your work.

Thank you so much magnetoman.... :)
I don't do downloads and avoid putting hi-res images online anymore.. I have had 1 too may stolen. Sorry about that... As far as any haze or softness you may be seeing, your eyes may be telling the truth.. Most of my images do not rely on sharpness and I actually soften many of them in PP as well as other techniques I may apply depending on the image.. So I do not think you would see much different than what you are besides it maybe showing here a bit lighter than intended... Thanks again... :)

The open bars in the back and the chained bird feel like a metaphor of being chained to a cage of our own making as if we try to fly away, but are locked by time and the tasks of our daily lives as shown on the floor.

The color is warm and inviting, with processing to match. The bright reflection to the left of the clock pulls my eye, but it is easily drawn back to the main focus and wanders the scene with ease. Well done!

Thank you for sharing a glimpse into your life and providing a wonderful image full of little surprises to look at again and again! S-

The open bars in the back and the chained bird fee... (show quote)

Thank you so much Steve! :) I was wondering if the whites were a bit blown out to the left.... I may tone it down a tad... :)

A trick I do is to look at the screen, close my eyes for a few seconds then open them and see where I look. It's typically the bright spots. S-
