Oh man, now there's these...

Both are interesting but are both missing major parts. The one in Germany could be talked down... And I've no idea what that 5-pin DIN does.

IIRC, the Oxberry had some motorized control over the camera that connected via that 5-pin DIN jack.

Well I managed to get that ebay Nikon F2 with the "Oxberry Pro-Copy F2" back for a little under $100. It arrived the other day and seems in nice shape. It needs a lens and finder; I am considering a 55mm macro lens and DW-2 6x eye level finder. Before I get those parts, I need to sort out my main hangup - I am beginning to think that the 5-pin plug is the only control for getting the pins in and out. Not manual like the Double M. The document at the archive.org link is a sales brochure, not a manual - and of course there's no discussion of the item I have here. I have been searching for more into controlling this thing to no avail so far. Oops.

I added comments in a couple of old forum threads, and asked the German seller of the other unit - wish me luck!

I just found what might be the only photo of the "control box" on the internet...this one is 240v - from Europe I suppose. Of course I don't need all that much control - I just need the pins to engage and disengage the film.

BTW it's disturbing when an internet search for an item that you need to understand results in SIX results!

I think I may have to get a 12 volt power source, and start poking at pairs of pins, to encourage the registration pins to move in and out. If I can figure out which pairs move them I can build a little box...

Interesting. I had never really seen an Oxberry except at NAVA/ICIA and AMI conventions. Their systems were out of our budget, so I didn't pay much attention. The Double M stuff was affordable and worked well.

Let me know how that works out for you. Maybe reaching out to some former producers who had that system would help? How to find such people, I have no clue.

Right. The internet is not turning up much. I DID write the seller of another one of these for possible insights, and Oxberry still exists; I wrote them too - but I am not expecting much... http://oxberry.com/home.html

Update: I bought the F2 with the Oxberry back, a 55mm macro lens and a viewfinder that seemed appropriate. All for about $200, which is great - now I just need to figure out how to get that back functioning WITHOUT the controller. I wrote Oxberry just a while ago - we shall see if they turn up any tech specs. I tend to doubt it but it's worth a try. I figure if I cannot get an info, I will try a 12v DC power source and touch the neg lead to the "center' pin on the DIN plug, and the pos lead to each of the other pins - and hope that (a) it's the right voltage and (b) I find what combo makes the reg pins move in and out.

Good luck in your quest! Sounds like Oxberry is your best hope.
