You will NOT be happy with the 20mm as a wide end on your camera with your 1.6 crop factor - gives you a 32mm equivalent.
Also - it has LESS than a 2x zoom range. Pretty puny!
I have a Tokina 12-24 for my wide angle on a Canon EOS 7D {also a 1.6 crop} - very happy with it.

I use the same Tokina on my old, but reliable 20D and agree that it is a great lens. Why do you want what is essentially a 32-56mm lens for a wide angle?
Stay away from that lens. The motor burns out on them and soon after the manual focus ring malfunctions. It is not a matter of IF it will happen, but when it will happen. I had one and it malfuctioned and then I did a google search and found out that it is a common problem with that lens.

Am not quite sure WHAT lens you are talking about - but I've had my Tokina 12-24 for about 7 years - no problems. I spent about 10 min on Google looking for "Tokina 12 - 24" and focus failure, focus ring failure, and just failure - - I failed to find anything such as you referenced.
In fact - the only things I CAN find about that lens are overall glowing reviews. So - if you had a problem with it - you have my regrets - but your experience does not seem to be typical.
I have the Canon variety - -

The OP originally asked about the Canon 20-35, and that is the lens that I am referring to. Nowhere is there reference to a Tokina lens in my response.

Nope - - isn't a reference to ANY lens in your response - and as it followed my post regarding the Tokina - felt clarification was in order. Appreciate your update.

I now see what you are referring to. I apologize for the confusion. Need to use the quote reply more often.
