Gentlemen, Thank you ALL for your Reply-Posts.
------------------
As you might remember from 2015; "I'm ONLY-Interested in:
'QUICKLY-CAPTURING a Realistically-True (as would a pair of young-20/20-eyes perceive the subject) IMAGE; ...and NOT an IMAGE which has been CREATED by 'TWEAKING//POST-PROCESSING a taken image."
-------------------
To THAT 'end' therefore, ALL of your Posts are Fascinating and Germaine to MY-INTERESTS ...and I Thank You for them.
-------------------
Is there ANYONE that can provide an Appropriate-Link (which would Answer the Original Question ...BUT for EACH of the Following Brands:
1. Canon - 2. Nikon - 3. Pentax - 4. Samsung - 5. Sony
-------------------
And while you're COMMENTING, Please tell me Brand and Model which can poduce the Most-Realistic (as define above) image ...using HDR (without Flash) at ISO 6400???

The P and A modes appear on both of my DSLRS, but I've never been clear on the difference. The manuals don't do a very good job of explaining this. Your knowledge will be much appreciated. >>>AL

Also, some cameras like the Olympus OM-D series allow one to change or fine tune both the aperture and / or shutter in Program Mode. The camera sets the original exposure but allows one to change that exposure's shutter speed or aperture as the photographer deems necessary. You may want to check to see if your camera system allows for such.

For the last question I would eliminate Nikon. IMHO their two-shot HDR is no better than you can achieve with ADL.

Just to note HDR is post processing. As is creating a jpeg image in camera. It is just very limited in capability and control: kind of like taking rolls of film to the drug store.

Pros or amateurs used to set their cameras manually but, unless using Sunny 16 rule of thumb, they were using Weston Masters or Sekonics etc to provide an accurate LV - and of course the exposure rings on the camera barrel were inter connected, so once the LV was set as per the light meter, changing A or S was doing what program mode (program shift) does today - so why all these modern derisory swipes at P&S? We ALL do it. :)

Given all the many and sometimes conflicting posts on this subject, I think we should change the names of "P" (Program) to "Puzzling," and "A" (Auto) to "Ambiguous."

Perhaps it is, but also perhaps not! It really does depend upon the brand!

I'm pretty sure PASM is universal. Auto is usually auto or iauto or some such thing.

That could be a good approach, I had been thinking along similar lines, with M and C modes:

M - I set all the camera controls, so if it is a crappy picture then it is My fault!

C - I let the camera control some of the settings, so if it is a crappy picture then it is my fault for not knowing how to Control my camera properly !

That should cover a significant percentage of situations!

Well, the posts on this thread do not support your suggestion that PASM is universal. Neither does historical fact, but your level of confidence is, err, inspiring!

It's not an overly hard a task to do that, just a little time consuming. How much are you willing to pay?
