Thanks very much for the kind words and looking, Pat, and glad you have some in your area!
Beautiful shots of a beautiful bird. I have got to plant one of the those cedar trees.

What a wonderful sight to see!!!! Beautiful birds and excellent captures, Corky! I've never seen one up here so I really enjoyed yours!
Sx50?

Thanks very much for the kind words and two thumbs up Angela, and think they should be in your area. Many flock together, so they may strip a moderate size tree in short order. I have seen them on cedar, holly, and black gum trees and would think that they would be attracted to almost any native tree with berries. I did not use the sx50 this time, but have taken several shots just playing with it, and carried it with us to the grocery store, but the gulls didn't show up. PS- Ellen just finished addressing the last Card and said that made a total of seventy. Take care!

Thanks for the kind words, Tparm and I need to do the same because ours was almost blow over by hurricane Irene a few yeas back, and now stands at quite an angle. The only problem with planting a tree is, only the female has berries on it and that may be difficult to tell at a young age. They are so common around this area that I have not seen any for sale at the local nurseries, but you can probably get permission to dig a small one up. Just make sure not to damage the center tap root. In the larger trees the female tree will have a blueish cast to it because of the berries!.

...We thought about you when trying to decide which images to post, because we needed some good suggestions on the best way to show off some of the beautiful and plentiful berries in a few of the captures!
I'd say no help was needed!
Super shots, SC. I like #s 1,2 and 5. Most photos don't catch those bright red wing tips like you did.
This is going to be a very long thread filled with well-deserved compliments.
Thanks for sharing. Is your wife the director, producer or editor?
That is one great / terrifc looking bird --- Your fine photos does it justice ---- sure wish we had them out here

Excellent set, Corky. Well done, mate. :D :D
Super series, Corky!!! Beautiful shots, great work catching this so well!
Wonderful sharp series - I enjoyed each download. The evergreens and berries really go well with the incredible colors of these birds. Very, very nice!

We have a very old and large cedar tree located close the water that is loaded with berries. I walked outside several days ago and kept hearing a sound similar to that made when snow or ice is melting from a tree and hitting the ground, and finally realized that a very large flock of Waxwings were feeding on the berries from the tree and the noise came from the many berries hitting the ground. Looked up and saw a beautiful sight!
Some nice shots there. Pretty birds, I wish I had some around here to photograph.
