just wondering if anyone on here uses digimarc to copyright their images electronically?

"Digimarc for Images allows you to embed imperceptible, persistent digital watermarks into your images to communicate ownership and other information"

they have various levels of use that is paid for on a yearly basis. It will also allow you to search the internet to see who is using your images.

I found out about it in photoshop cs5 and i thought i would ask.

do you think it is worth the money?

49.99 gets 1000 images and 99.99 gets 2000 images protected.

You know...I am not a professional and yet something wants me to protect anything I do! I won't post on this website because it's so easy to lift it...not that it would be good enough that anyone would want to...so are you a pro? Could you sell them? Would you if you could? Would anyone else want to use them to sell? Lots of questions...I have no answers! :?

No I am not a pro, along way from it. Yes i would sell an image if someone wanted to buy one. As of right now no one would want them, but who knows someday i may be good enough that someone would try that. I agree there are lots of questions.

I am a student at the art institute of pittsburgh and i am told in all my classes put your name or some kind of mark on your images. I have found a few things that have shown up in web searches like most of us, and i just want people to know it is mine, if someone uses it for anything other than resale it is ok with me. It would be nice to know someone else out there likes what i do.

We all like a little recognition sometime.

Yeah...I get that. I just couldn't justify the cost. But if you are really working at being a pro...it might be worth it to you. Darn...I wish there were a right answer! :-)

Photoshop has Digimark BUILT IN - - Go to Filters, Digimark - and you're done.
Also: If you only shoot JPG - then never post a full-resolution image - post one that is 1/2 size (also Digimarked). If anyone claims ownership - you have the full resolution original to prove your ownership. Likewise - if you shoot RAW + JPG - then always keep the RAW and again - you can use that to prove ownership.

Right you are - but when you click on the Digimark that is "BUILT IN" you have to pay to use it.

I agree and I wish I could remove all reference to it on the drop down menu. It was confusing to me until I did some research and found out about it.

Well - - OK - - have you tried deleting the following folder (and subs)
.
C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS5\Plug-ins\Digimarc
.
I will warn you - I HAVE NOT done this and cannot vouch for what may happen - so IF you decide to try it - I recommend creating a RESTORE POINT before you do it - so it can be easily UnDone !!
.
Instead of DELETING the folder - you MAY want to just try MOVING it somewhere else - that is NOT underneath your PS directory. If Disaster strikes - you might then just move it back. If THAT fails - THEN you can use the previous restore point.

I won't try that because I have some other plug-ins that for some reason are listed under the Digimark pull down menu.
