Greetings to all...
I am in a tight spot. I live in a camping situation and have recently acquired INTERNET!! woo hoo :D However, I have been following this site for almost seven months and enjoy every moment I have been through here. Now I would like to become more active. Here I would like to submit a couple of shots for honest review and get some class act opinions in order to better my self. SO in advance I would like to thank you for your time and effort in looking at my amateur work...
Sincerely,
LeeAnne
Easter Lily
It's late here and it could just be my eyes, but the Easter Lily looks like it has a lot of digital noise that makes it appear grainy. I do like the color and composition of this shot though.
The pineapple in the second photo is slightly out of focus.
Hope this helps LeeAnne. I'm looking forward to seeing more of your work.
Thank you so much and I can see what you mean and that kind of response is just what I am looking for, Sir! Mahalo Nui
Agree with BigDave, and yes, good shots, nice composition
Not sure if I agree. I see to what was referred in the first but I am somewhat confused - seems to me if that was in fact digital noise it would also show up in the black area of the background, and it does not seem to. Either way -I like the look. The second as stated is out of focus - looks like you are zeroed in on the background and not the flower. You may try either a single point focus, or go manual.

With regard to the first image, I agree 100% that this image does not suffer from digital noise. What people are seeing here is "pollen". This is quite common when doing floral close-ups. If you take a close look at the actual areas covered by the "pollen", it complies with normal botany function of a flower like this. Under the right light, pollen does tend to have the look of iridescence, as shown here. 'Tis the nature of the beast.
The first image is in fact, plum wonderful. The OP is certainly on the right track here. Well done. Keep it up, and let us see some more from Hawaii.
This diagram of general flower anatomy might be of interest.
Hey, Many Many Thanks to all.. or how we say in Hawaiian, Mahalo Nui Loa... (Thank you with the warmest regards) or such. Any way, since things are going well I'll put another pic or two up as I am enjoying being a part of all this with the awesome artists that shine on this site as well. So you know, I do appreciate all critique, as, as a rule throughout life I always have believed that criticism was only anothers way of saying "you can do better" !! Have a wonderful day!

Aloha LeeAnne,
I really like the soft succulent but would crop out distracting background.I agree with what has been said on first two.
Since you're in the camping situation over there,if you don't mind some questions please send me a Private Message and we'll talk.I've been gone a little over a year but am trying to get back.

Hoku, that last shot with the soft touch is outstanding! You are on the right track. Loved the first shot also. Agree the second was OOF. Keep posting from paradise...
I agree that what we see in the first shot is not noise, but some lilies have a grainy texture in the petals. I have 3 different kinds of that do Anyway, I really like the first one and agree, second one is OOF. . LOVE that last shot.
#1 is beautiful! I agree that #2 is out of focus. #3 is good as far as focus, clarity and color. #4 is a little on the soft side, but still good. All in all, I think you did good.
