Why would Nikon refurb a Canon camera. I think you have something confused.
I made a stupid mistake, and corrected it in a new post. It was refurbed by CANON, not NIKON. Sorry for the inconvenience. Thanks for the heads-up.
A few months ago, I got an SX50 from Adorama, refurbed by Nikon, for $139. They have these deals from time to time. (The camera is perfect, looks new.) Adorama is a great retailer.
Every one love a challenge.... perhaps reverse engineering... gosh what makes that Canon SX50 so good???
Yes, I know it was a brain slip by a Nikonist.
Leftover legendary reputation from when it was a current model is apparently how it stays in the limelight. We all know there are better cameras now for less money (than the original selling price, not the current discontinued blowout prices) with higher resolution and lenses just as good and just as long.
Simple - go to Canon.com (Canon Global) website, specify your region, and look for their listings for refurbished cameras. Canon seems to revolve their refurb prices between different price levels, so you may have a short wait. I got my SX50 for less than $180.
I just checked with www.usa.canon.com, and they are out of stock right now on the refurb SX50. They sell it now for $149 when they have them. They are a sweet little camers for the price.
I have the 50 for photographing birds. It does really well except low light and complicated background autofocus is a problem I'm still trying to sort out. Great quality images from the camera all over the internet, my interest is just ID the bird later.
