Yeah, thanks. I went to DPReview and checked the 750. I'll probably be spending a lot of tme on that site. Thanx for the help!

Use the side by side with all other cameras, nikons or otherwise. This site can really help make an informed decision across the board.

Just remember that it is not a 'free editorial' but is owned by Amazon. This has led to some interesting discrepancies like the absence of the Nikon D810 full review.

What do you think of the D750? According to the Nikon rep,on DPReview, it is a high quality FF. I'll check some other customer reviews and see. Glad you guys told me about that site.

The D200 is DX. I have one and I love it! It's a great camera that delivers beautiful photos when shooting in most lighting except very low light because it can get noisy at high iso. I like the daylight shots better than those that my D7000 delivers in the same lighting.

Full frame or DX?

Can someone please explain to me the differences,(other than price) of the various Nikon Series cameras? D3200, D5200, and D700, etc., etc. Thank you. I keep hearing about full frame cameras, but can't afford 5-6'000.

It seems like too many models to me. The best summary that I've found is in Wikipedia.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Template:Nikon_DSLR_cameras

They have a similar timeline for Canon.

The problem with that question is one has to own one to give a pertinent answer.

...

So you have a list of whats available.
Delete the ones you do not have an interest in.
Delete the ones you can't afford.
Delete the ones that don't offer the features you want.
Now that you have it narrowed down, flip a coin.

You have done a great job of accumulating data but made no attempt to process that data and reach a solution

With the current breed, the ones with a single number after the D are the pro (expensive) models. Those with three numbers are full frame, and the four digit models have the APS-C sensors.

Older models D1, D2, D100 - D300 all had the smaller sensors.

There are various auto focus sensors and metering parameters. DP Review, as mentioned above, as well as NikonUSA.com have lots of information on specific models.

High pixel count is good, but will be sacrificed for faster shutter speeds. So, you do have to think about how and what you like to shoot, to determine what will serve you best.

D800 is considered a pro model.

Nasim Mansurov of the Photography Life website did a comprehensive 10-page review of the Nikon D750. When you get to the bottom of a page you have to click the little down arrow in pop-down box to select the next page.

my D810 has a pixel count of 36mp but manages a shutter speed of 1/8000 sec.

On crop frame cameras the big difference for me is the D7000 series have focus motors in the body. This way I can use older lenses in auto focus. Even the old film camera lenses work well and are real buys on eBay. - Dave
