Is it worth getting a refurbished camera from some online dealers. What
experience does someone have, and what recourse if not satisfied.

I also have a refurbished Canon sx50 purchased from their site. The warranty is one year, same as new. The camera was pristine.

Fromr "some" online dealers, yes. Depends on the retailer. If it is the original manufacturer (Canon, Nikon, Sony, etc) or one of the reputable online houses (Adorama, KEH, B&H, etc), then it is a pretty good experience. If you have never heard of the seller before, then maybe no so much.

In the past two years I have purchased a Nikon D3200 and D5200 refurbs from Cameta. No problems, I have a favorable opinion of the company. I have not needed to use the warranty.

Indeed indeed indeed, me too has two. Fantastic image, ease of use. Purchased directly from Canon.

Only problem, me, did not realize that that plastic protector I put in the flash shoe opened a switch that turned off the flash.. dah!! Took this Hibiscus this AM with a $150 Refurb!! Noise is minimal, detail boost, color kick... my usual Topaz routine.

I read that the SX50 had a big recall based on the eye-view rubber pad, it contained an irritating chemical. Also Have read that the SX50 is a better choice compared to the SX60.

I bought a refurbished Nikon D3300 from Cameta with a 1 year warranty and no problems. It had a shutter count under 800. I have also purchased refurbished lenses from them as well. All work great!

I purchased two Oly's, one from a dealer and one from Olympus. They were both perfect. There were no signs of wear or even any usage. Packaged with everything a new one has.

I have purchased refurbished gear from major manufacturers as well as from Adorama, B&H, Cameta, and KEH with a high degree of satisfaction each time.

I have two used "excellent" from KEH: Nikons P500 and P510. Both like new.

I recently added a Canon SX50 from Adorama via Canon USA, refurb. Like new.

I recommend both dealers highly.

I have purchased refurbished Nikon cameras from Nikon, Cameta and Adorama with excellent results. I would not buy a camera that says Dealer Refurbished. Make sure it is Manufacturer Refurbished. If it comes from a reputable dealer, it will be Manufacturer Refurbished.

A Manufacturer Refurbished camera should be as good, and maybe better than, new. Sometimes they correct a problem that has been an issue with most all the new ones.

"Refurbished" is a term that only applies to new or nearly-new cameras, lenses, & speedlights, resold by the original manufacturer, that have passed a rigorous re-inspection protocols. A Refurb item must be accompanied by a OEM certificate with at least an abbreviated OEM warranty (usually shorter than 'new' warranty). Refurbs can be sold directly by OEM or through a registered dealer. Refurbs are often considered more precise because each is hand-examined and re-calibrated by an OEM technician.

The same item sold by a dealer without an OEM Refurbished warranty is merely used, and might be accompanied by a dealer's limited warranty.

I have a refurbished Nikon D5100 (and have had it for years) and a refurbished D7100 that I got recently. No complaints with either. The D5100 came from eBay and the D7100 from Adorama. I would definitely buy refurbished again.

I got my entire Nikon D3300 + lenses + speedlight system Factory Refurbished from nikonusa.com. I have had no problems with any of it. I saved enough money on the camera body to buy it, and two lenses, and a speedlight, for the same money that the camera body alone would have cost new.
