How many of you have now or are planning to use one of these lenses? How many of you have one currently? What is your opinion of such lenses? (Pros and Cons) Thank you for taking the time to comment.

Had a couple lens babies, small step up from toy lenses. I do have and use a couple fisheyes. They are not really practical lenses but are a lot of fun when you can use that effect.

Had a Lensbaby. It was fun for about 5mins. I didn't like the black ring around the edges & light leak. If your looking for a effect to distort the image then this will certainly do it. It's way better to invest in a fisheye it will give you a way better image. Can you got to your local camera shop to try one out?

My nearest Camera shop is 85 miles away and they may or may not carry a Lensbaby. The next nearest spot is about 350 miles away. But I will have to check it out, and thank you for your input.

I have a Lensbaby fisheye. It's just a 'fun' lens. But....Everything in my kit is *fun*, since I'm far from a professional. I thought the whole idea of a fisheye, was to have dark corners.

Either lens is for those who like to spend a lot of time being creative. For me both lenses are fun to get out once or twice a year and play with. They are different. If you want a lens that will show everything in a circle and the objects that are close are distorted to be larger use the fisheye. The lens baby can move the part of the picture you want in focus and you can have fun being "artistic" with it's movements. Lensbaby's show up on eBay for amazing prices. I got the basic one for $18. I have yet to get my monies worth out of it. Like Creta 1 said "fun for 5 mins. - Dave

A novelty lens in my opinion, never owned one but have played with one a little bit. I could not find a need or use for one as I do like the images form either one. I mess up a picture enough with out trying to. Just my opinion.

Marionsho:
I am not a professional either, I shoot for the fact of enjoying it thoroughly for ME! I love creating different things especially when I am out in the Redwood forest, along the Ocean, in the Mountains or where the Riverbanks are. I am blessed. I was curious about the Lensbaby versus the fisheye lenses that are not a Lensbaby. I know nothing about the Lensbaby (the reason I talk about Lensbaby is that I think has more capability than a fisheye unnamed brand. I am by no means financially secure, just love photography. Thank you for the lovely picture of the Cat.

I can't comment on lensbaby, but for a DX camera the Samyang 8mm fisheye is very worthy of consideration. I have the Canon version and find it much more useful than I had originally thought.

Samyang lenses are typically sold under other brand names such as Rokinon, Vivitar, Bower and several other names. The lens has good reviews and can be a lot of fun.

they are both something to keep in your bag for when the right opportunity comes up to use them.
A sports photographer I know likes getting a fisheye perspective of each stadium he shoots at.
