"Now if they would just put a full frame sensor in that body they would have something."

There are rumors Sony will be releasing a new camera later this year as the A99. Full sensor 24MP and later another version using the Nikon D800 sensor.

All of what you mentioned are in the Sony A77 and more.

I have a good friend that is into photography and wants to upgrade. He has a Nikon D40 with two kit lens.
I just read Roger Hicks thread on Criterion and now I have to ask this. What a hoot.
Anyway, he has certain things that he is looking for in the camera. He is able to find some of them but not all in the same camera. Do you know of a camera that has all this:

*Fully Articulated LCD
*Weather Sealed
* Able to shoot HDR automatically (Is that Auto Bracket)
* Image Stabilizer
* Auto Focus in Camera

Both the brand and the cost are immaterial as long as it's less than six grand.

Yes, he is a good friend but not good enough to upgrade my stuff to. Ahh well, I tried.

Can anyone help?

Frenchcoast posted a picture taken with a Pentax K20D that looks like it has these features, according to DPreview.
Looks like it has a vertical focal plane shutter, nice to keep the tires round on moving vehicles, instead of them leaning forward.
What's "auto-focus in camera" ?

The Sony A900, which has been out for several years, is full frame and weather sealed.

Nikons are great cameras, it is just that Sony's are better.

Sony A77 does HDR automatically along with many other features, including all of the OP's original list.

After seeing 2 bodies (one Canon and one Nikon) with their articulated screens broken off, I seriously doubt I would ever be interested in one.

I've owned several cameras with the articulating screen and can't imagine one being broken off with proper care. Gives me the image of a parent walking around with a one-armed child and carelessly jerking the other arm. Most of us handle our babies... camera or child, with care.

There is a company out there, I think it is called Sony? Anyway, I think there is a model called the a77, It is weatherproof and It has an articulated fully LCD screen. But it is only 24.3mp and it can only shoot at 12fps. Also, it has image stabilization built into the camera which means the lenses for it won't cost as much. This is problematic since people like to mention how much their lenses cost. But this is o.k. since Sony has some very expensive lenses also.

I do not know for the life of me why any one would want to have a movie feature built into a DSLR camera anyway but it appears that this is the only way you can get them now. So this Sony a77 has fully auto HD. 1080p video which is very sharp and clear even in low light conditions. It can also be used manually.

Besides being able to shoot in an "auto" mode. It has an advanced auto mode.

With a pretty decent, kit lenses included, it goes for $1,999.99 U.S.

Check this out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WnIri9PkJC8

And it does all of this in the rain. Who wants to shoot in the rain?

It seems that the only negative reviews that it gets are by Nikon and Canon users who refuse to recognize that there are other quality products on the market besides their own.

shooting in a light rain is nice......

The Olympus e-5 is weather sealed and has articulating screen, with in-body image stabilization.
