Wow! That is an awesome and unique creation. My hat is off to the builder.

We were visiting good friends and attending the Syrup Festival in Henderson, Texas, a couple of weekends ago. The festival included a car show and naturally us guys headed that way. Lots of old cars, rods, etc., but this particular car blew the others away as far as I was concerned. The builder was a retirement age amateur (older guys rule!) and said this was his first effort. He started with a '39 Ford, kept the frame, front fenders/grill/hood, and parts of the rear fenders. The rest is hand-formed sheetmetal. The guy has some mad metal skills and his design work is solid, too.

If my old mind is remembering correctly, that flathead is a more modern one than original. I had a '53 Ford with a flathead and its radiator outlets from the heads were at the front of the engine like this one. I think back in '39 the outlets came from the top center of the heads. The later design must have had a cooling problem. At least mine did - it had four cracks in the heads when I finally got rid of it. Blew water out the overflow on a regular basis. I used a ton of K&W Block Weld on it. It would seal the cracks for awhile but they always opened back up. I never heard of that problem with the earlier design.
