These are shots it took on our windy Friday night. I took so many different shots, with different settings, that I don't know the details. I guess I need to take notes as I go. Equipment was: Celestron Nightscape, Rowe-Ackermann, CGE Pro.

Outstanding shots.
The Celestron video cam did a nice job and your stacking and processing is very good.
I am guessing you are using the 11" Rowe Ackermann SCT scope?
RASA is short for Rowe-Ackermann Schmidt Astrograph, a new optical configuration pioneered by Celestron. The Celestron RASA pushes the boundaries of traditional imaging telescopes with it's super fast F/2.2 optical design. Celestron spared no expense when designing and producing the RASA.
I would have liked to pull in deeper to the shot. If you had saved the file that would allow that.
I am using older design SCT's at f/10 and would love to shoot at f/2.2 but the cost is prohibitive for me.
Welcome to our little corner of the universe.

Welcome back Europa I really like both of your posts.
If you click the (store original) box we can get a much better view of your work.
And we can see the EXIF info on your photos.

Love the second shot, I am still debating on this scope, I want it but am not sure if it will out perform a hyperstar 11 edge. I have heard conflicting opinions, and mostly from people who have only used one or the other. Is this new equipment for you or have you worked out most of the kinks already?

Does exif data port over when converting FITs to JPG? I didn't think they did, could be wrong though.

Great images by the way

This is new equipment for me and I have a lot to learn about it. I'll look into the exif, but I don't believe it comes thru.

Being a newbie, it is a little challenging aligning with no "view", but I assume that comes with practice.

Aligning your mount or aligning your shot? With an f/2.2 I would think both would be fairly easy. Align the mount with a regular eyepiece and get your object aligned before changing to the camera. I usually align on a nearby bright star so that I can focus with my camera and make sure my spot scope agrees that the star is dead center. Then I go to my object. I can then center in my spot pretty darn close.
Everyone has their methods.

There is no eyepiece with the RASA, your head would be in front of the objective. I would think even if you wanted to do semi remote imaging, from backyard, a laptop would have to be right there while you are by the mount, then either log into it from inside or park /hibernate the mount till you bring the laptop to where ever your imaging station is. I live playing with new gear, not all at the same time, but hey.

Best of luck, and share your endeavours.

Obviously I am out of touch with the current tech.
I'll have to look deeper.

These are outstanding shots! I too would love to see the downloads, especially if they allow some size increase.
Great work!

I looked much deeper and found this presentation by Celestron.

It answered a lot of questions that I had and I hope others find it useful as well.
