Another look at a possibility:

Just because other presidents "could," but "didn't," doesn't mean another president "won't" ....

And the article said over the last few decades......
not something new for those clowns in D.C.--special interests run this country.

I'm still not getting any answer to the original question. Let me re-phraze this. None of this has ever occourred, it is just a question in the "What if" dept. OK? What would happen if something like this really did happen. It's not a debate of "is he or isn't he"? This is why I didn't want to ask here in the first place. I was afraid it would turn into a big debate. No name calling or bashing is permitted. Just tell me what would happen if this took place. Thank you very much.

Hi picturedude: I thought my answer to your hypothetical question, was quite accruate. The only thing I didn't add was should the President actually be ineligable and if for some reason the Vice president also be found ineligable then the Speaker of the House would become President. Something quite similar to this happened when President Nixon stepped down and his Vice President Spiro Agnew was also ineligeable. I'm not sure why Gerald Ford was appointed the new President, I can't recall if he was Speaker of the House, but I don't believe that he was. I have in all cases tried to leave my personal oppinions out of the answer, because your question was framed as such. Thanks.

I t.hougt that when Agnew resigned Nixon selected any one he desired (justlike a cabinet appointee). Ford was chosen and Congress approved(just like a cabineet position).
