Night sky and city lights...

I went camping this past weekend at the Chickahominy Riverfront Park. Nice place between Richmond & Williamsburg, VA.
This was taken down on a dock late one evening looking back to the west toward Richmond. Obviously enhanced a bit, but it shows the importance of finding that dark place for night shots. The download will show lots more stars...
Taken with the Canon 7d mkII and Tokina 11-16 2.8, PP in LR4.

Very nice image.

For educational purposes, others may be interested since most lenses suffer from some kind of distortion, if you download and magnify, you can see some astigmatism. Look at the upper right corner. Different lenses have more or less of this kind of distortion. When I use my 20mm on a full frame camera, I see this too.

Here is an article one kind of distortion. Stopping down can minimize this one to some extent. But that rather defeats the intent of maximizing the light of stars.

(I was able to see an example of the type of distortion in this link)

I would ignore it and continue with your pictures. This one looks great.

Very nice and with a pleasant look, I like it. Especially the reflection on the calm water.

I like it. A very nice shot.
I, too, really like the reflected stars on the water.
I bet it was probably even better to the naked eye. ;)

Is the background from light pollution? Or from the Sun's afterglow?
I like your overall composition in the photograph. :)

Thanks for looking and commenting Sonny. The background is the light pollution of the city, looking back toward Richmond, VA. I enhanced it quite a bit from the original just to show the influence of the city lights, even though you're 25 or so miles away. Well, that, and to make it a little more interesting shot. Thanks again.
