There has been all sorts of problems getting a 3rd party manual for the 7D Mark II. I like to take a new camera, place in my lap and go through a manual, and become familiar with all the bells and whistles. Early on, the publishing industry has shut out this particular camera from its line-up. Wiley Press used to publish a series of "Field Guides" and their popular "For Dummies" line. But, for some reason, did not publish a "Field Guide" for the 7D Mark II. I had the actual Canon manual printed, by "Manualsink.com" The cost was about $26.00. I later bought a copy of Jeff Revell's "Canon 7D Mark II, From Snapshots to Great Shots" from Amazon. It's pretty good and is much smaller than the Canon manual (545 pages) ve the Revell book at 276 pages. The Canon manual is only printed on one side, but I use the other side to make notes. Enjoy your new camera, and to quote "James Bond" "It's one hell of a Box Brownie."

My 7d II came with a paper copy of the basic instruction manual. Electronic versions of that and the full instruction manual are available free from Canon here:

Excerpts from two emails between me and David a few months ago after I purchased my 7D II and could not find his book.
"Unfortunately, my publisher shut down its photo book division and cancelled this book."
In answer to my question about seeking a different publisher David said this:
"My former publisher owns the rights to that book until March, 2016 and would not allow me to do that."
Sometimes publishers are just douchey that way-- DC'ing the book or an entire line but not releasing the copyrights back to the authors in any hurry.

"Birds as Art" publishes one. Not cheap. Check it out.
Anything Art Morris offers is likely to be quite good, but also might be pretty specialized for wildlife and particularly bird photography.

Anything Art Morris offers is likely to be quite good, but also might be pretty specialized for wildlife and particularly bird photography. Especially if he wrote it himself.

Why is it that the camera makers can't put out the best book of the bunch
On there camereas .after all they made it . Do the makers get a kick back
From others who write a manual obout there cameras . Or do the makers
Of said camera pay these other sources who write books about there latest baby , or give them free cameras to boot . You shouldn't have to
Go out and pay $35 , $65 or what ever to get a book you can under stand
Over one from the makers . Makes no sence to me .
I'm guessing that the ability to produce a great camera and the ability to explain well how to use it are not the same thing.

Sad is books were so well done and provided a means to fill in the gaps where the Canon user manuals don't
I can't tell you about that book, but I bought one on the Mark II by Jeff Revell and have been very satisfied with it. Easy to read and very helpful. Bought it through Amazon for less than $20.
