Probably too late, but I actually have had luck with putting the camera on a tripod, and using a towel over my head, and the back of the camera. Looks like a throwback to the early 1900's but it works fine for me. :-)

Bought a Hoodman Hoodloupe today with the strap accessory. I can see a use for this device in doing my landscape photography with Live View.
