A school in Massachusetts has decided that the song Lee Greenwood made famous is too "dangerous" for the ears of little children, unless the word "God" is left out.

Now, they've decided to remove all songs from the program.

LEE GREENWOOD’S STATEMENT TO TODD STARNES

“Maybe the school should have asked the parents their thoughts before changing the lyrics to the song. They could have even asked the writer of the song, which I of course would have said you can’t change the lyrics at all or any part of the song. The most important word in the whole piece of music is the word God, which is also in the title God Bless The USA. We can’t take God out of the song, we can’t take God out of The Pledge of Allegiance, we can’t take God off of the American currency. Let us also remember, the phrase God Bless the USA has a very important meaning for those in the military and their families, as well as new citizens coming to our Country. The song is played at every naturalization ceremony behind The National Anthem. If the song is good enough to played and performed in its original setting under those circumstances, it surely should be good enough for our children.” – Lee Greenwood

I bet they haven't removed the word God when it comes to cursing.

Yeah, God is very popular when it comes to cursing. And many children hear that language a lot.

I wonder if Obama will make a statement for or against on this?

Take God out of the faction and we are lost.

OK, I can't pass up the opportunity.

That little girl who sang, Kaitlyn Maher, was at her Grandfather's funeral last year; and here's what she had to say ....

Dam courts, lawmakers, school admin. Fed and State Reps. This countrys population had better get their s__t togather, pull their heads out of their a-s and change out the gov. reps or start looking for some place else to go.

Update: School says the song will be sung after all, with original words:

"Edward L. Fleury, the Superintendent of Schools in Bellingham, also released a statement on Thursday, that said, “political correctness is certainly a consideration in the public sector. There are traditional parts of our culture that are sacred, and we certainly had no intent to disrespect any part of that culture.”

Fleury went on to say that “God Bless the U.S.A.” will be sung at the fourth grade students’ upcoming concert which is scheduled for April 12. Students will be allowed to sing or not to sing the words “God Bless the U.S.A.”"

I believe that the song should not be changed It should be left the way it is since it has been used at so many events around the world. I have seen Lee Greenwood perform at my local state fair 2 times and both times, he got the most participation from the crowds when he sang this song.
