Have you ever wondered why it's OK to make jokes about the Pope,
Jews, Christians, the Irish, the Italians, the Polish, the Chinese,
the French (including French Canadians), the elderly, bad golfers,
men/women, b****s/w****s, etc, but its insensitive to make
jokes about Muslims? Time to level the playing field and be
politically correct by including the Muslims!

I must admit, I snickered at each one of Foxworthy's lines. But then, I realize that they all pertain to those who are participants or are sympathetic to the Islamic Terrorist Fanatic causes. I'm no "priss" or SNL Church Lady, but I believe that reprinting this in this Forum about Photography, even if it is in the Chit-Chat section, IS JUST PLAIN WRONG!!

I sincerely doubt that if I showed this post to my former Muslim colleagues, they would it this post amusing. Repeating these lines to most young children and those of low IQ WITHOUT acknowledging something akin to my above qualification CAN BE DANGEROUS and lead to more bigotry! While the members of this Forum should be intelligent enough to realize the target of these jokes is exaggerated, I wouldn't count on all impressionable ones or rednecks to realize that. They could repeat or chant any of these lines often enough that they start to believe they're true. Paraphrasing the N**i Minister of Propaganda, Josef Goebbels: the more often a lie is repeated, the more likely it is to be believed as the t***h.

I also must disagree with docerz that it's " ... OK to make jokes about the Pope, Jews, ... , b****s/w****s, etc. ... " REALLY?!?! In Public, anytime, anywhere? I think not!

Do I ever tell those kinds of jokes? Well, I guess I'm admitting that I'm not P.C., because I know I have, but I also knew damn well what my audience consisted of demographically. I'd never tell any of them to the general public. If I believe such a joke could be overheard by a member of the group which is the subject of the joke, I wouldn't tell it. I'm an American Caucasian Jew, and I've heard jokes told by Gentiles about Jews that were truly unfunny as well as jokes that only a B***k A******n could tell, such as one by black comedian Flip Wilson, which if I told out loud without explicitly stating the context, could easily be interpreted as R****t. Look what happened to the late Howard Cosell (of ABC's Monday Night Football,) who characterized some NFL running back's speed on the field with the line, "Look at the monkey go!" Cosell was known to use the same term for his toddler-age grandchildren; it didn't matter. He was immediately canned!

docerz, you're probably a decent guy who likes to pass on some popular humor, so please don't think that I'm necessarily condemning you as a person. But what you posted could EASILY be misinterpreted by someone else who reads this Forum's content. It should be, in my opinion, REMOVED from this site! I don't care if Foxworthy got away with telling these jokes; that's irrelevant.

Let me point something out to you, Lev; You're kinda getting your words mixed up; UHH is a "website"; this "website" consists of a whole bunch of "forums"; many of these "forums" ARE related to photography, however, several, (General Chit-Chat and The Attic, ) are for......anything OTHER than photography ); we already have a moderator who does a pretty good job, so if YOU don't think member docerz posting Foxworthy's muslim jokes is a "good idea", maybe YOU need to look for another forum to "hang out on"! Maybe start your own forum? Then you could "pull the plug" on anyone posting anything that YOU don't like?

You say you're a Jew; that really doesn't tell me very much; there are many Jewish people that I have great admiration for; and there are some that I wouldn't throw a "life preserver" to if they "fell overboard": (kinda the same way I feel about every other religion, ethnicity, race, etc. )

So far, I don't see anyone trying to deprive you of having your own "opinions".....but when you ASSUME that everyone else should "agree" with your "opinions",
then I think maybe you should look for another website; one with a majority of people who "agree" with your "opinions".

I feel sorry that you are not more accommodating to other ethic groups and find that it is easier to slander the "group"of the month. I know that people are still reeling over 9\11 and some feel that it is okay to denigrate all Muslims. I am sure there are few i***ts among every ethic body just as ther are a few among the UHH community. It's not okay to be a r****t and put off as humor. I will no longer be reading this forum due to the type of expression allowed here. I am sure you will not miss me as you me. Just as an additional thought please view Dorothea Langes photo regarding displaced people and think of t***sposing "Muslim" with "homeless".
