this morning, I had never heard of it.
Guess what I'm doing this evening?!
We have some clouds today (and 100° weather) so it might be futile, but, I'll look for it.
Taking a few minutes to see a sunset isn't a bad way to say goodbye to the day :-D

Good luck Gordon Venus will be quite low on the horizon.

Hi Craig,
Not Venus, the Belt of Venus :-)

The pink sky above the earth shadow after sunset.

Venus sets BEFORE the sun tonight.

Thanks for the heads-up Gordon. I'll be looking for it 7:37 PM. I've got clear skies tonight. And I wondered if Venus was gone yet.

This guy rocks time lapse. He's also one of the featured photographers on TWAN (The World At Night). Watch Pilbara - Western Australia. It identifies the Belt of Venus in one segment. And turn up your sound...

Oh! I look forward to your shots of it.

I will definitely be looking at that link!
I am wondering if Flickr is going to upload my 57 second overnight time lapse video I made of 08/13/15. Almost 600 images.

WOW! That is breathtaking work!

Well, if it was there tonight I didn't see it, but it was very hazy and cloudy to the East.
I'll be back looking as soon as it's clear out.

I've seen this many times driving home from Gallup and Arizona. It can be very pretty. I never seem to have a camera with me when I do.
It's worth looking at.

I shot this image of the shadow and belt of Venus from a hot air balloon over Namibia early morning. It was quite striking and being an astronomer I pointed it out to our pilot and guests. All cameras were then pointed in that direction. As the sun finally came up the effect disappeared fairly rapidly.
