Beware of Windows 10?

I downloaded Windows 10 to my desktop and found that Lightroom barely worked afterwards. Nothing but fits and starts and long delays. So I reverted back to Windows 7, which you can do easily thanks to Microsoft in Windows 10, and Lightroom rocked again. Anybody else have this kind of experience with Lightroom or Photoshop? Is Windows 10 really this bad for photography work or is it just my computer?

No, the only thing I have found that did not work in Win 10 is Adblock Plus when using Edge. When I switch to IE11, still on Win 10, Adblock works just fine. But, you have found the logical solution and cudo's to MS for allowing easy access to going back to Win 7. Give it a few months and I will bet Lightroom will work fine.

I'm very impressed with W10. There are people experiencing problems, but many are individual setup issues that can be addressed with a little work. W10 is quite probably Microsoft's best OS and roll out ever.

It is probably a good idea to check that everything is up to date and working well with Win 7 before trying again when you do.

I've updated 3 machines to Win10, 2 of which have my CC software installed. The only issue I've encountered was that I had to reconfigure the speakers on my notebook. Took a couple of minutes.

Other than that, I believe Win 10 to be the best version of the OS ever, and I've used them all since the days of DOS (remember that?). I am enamored with it.

I also have upgraded 3 machines, one from 7, one from 8, and one from 8.1. No problem with any of the Adobe software, and I have Photoshop, Lightroom, InDesign, and Illustrator.

Most likely it is your computer and some setting you have going on.
I'm happy so far with my Win 7 laptop, and my Win 8.10 computers upgraded to Win 10.
The only issue I have had was when using some of my processing programs to stack multiple frames running out of memory.
Last night I was making a time lapse video, for example.
Not a problem if I close some of the memory gobblers, like UHH's ad stuff. :hunf:
Probably 99% of performance problems can be traced back to an operator error. ;)

I updated my Toshiba laptop and everything is working as before no problems what so ever, this has to be the best upgrade that Microsoft has ever offered ever without a doubt. I also I maxed out my computers Ram Memory, boot time is under 15sec. PS works so much faster then before I could not be more happy. Thank you Microsoft!!!

AMD video card users (may) need new driver.

I updated to W10. Love it, but Lightroom crashed if I went to "Develop". Photoshop locked up immediately. I called Adobe.

Solution: I have an AMD Radeon video card: reportedly both Adobe and AMD are aware AMD needs a new driver (not available as of 8/27). After replacing my AMD video card with the internal default card (a few programming clicks) all is well, both programs work well. I was told by Adobe support that I have lost some advanced features (which, as yet I don't use), so ill wait for the new AMD driver and then reinstall.

I report this only to share my Windows 10/Lightroom issue and it's successful resolution.

Hi from the UK philz ..... I upgraded from 8.1 to 10 as soon as I "got the MS message" ....... apart from the fact that it took about an hour I've had no probs at all. Using Lightroom 5.7 (stand alone product) and the file copy worked exactly with Win 10 as before.

I'm no "techy" ..... but the problem is more likely to be at your end if you are a "basic user" comme moi !

Win 10 is good and works well ...... persevere amigo !

I've had a few problems, but nothing in my base programs. Like my verse protection stopped the install, and to uninstall it.

Other than a few hiccups, it really picked up the speed of the machine. I've done 5 so far and ready to do my last.

One problem I don't like is getting the status of my Internet connection. I still have to work on that one.

YES indeed beware of Windows 10!
It is the biggest bit of spyware on the planet. Just check out the security settings and see what the defaults are. Do not be conned. Read the press eg WebUser journal.

I have had only minor problems with W10, mostly caused by my having to learn the new way it works. My Adobe CC works fine(actually better than it did with W7). I find that PS & LR actually work better. I keep getting error messages about my audio driver not being compatable, but Dolby doesn't have a W10 driver available yet. I have sound so I can wait. So far so good.
