A night under the stars

The Milky Way rising above Mt Rainier. I took this shot near a place called Sunrise at about 6,300 ft elevation. Not the best of nights for imaging as there was a light haze in the air from the numerous wildfires burning in central Washington. Even at that elevation, I could smell the smoke. I also posted this in the main forum.

Thanks Craig. That was also among my last with my Canon equipment. I've sold all my lenses and I'm waiting on my new (Nikon) camera body to arrive (Wednesday). I've got the lenses I want for it but they're just sitting forlornly in boxes at the moment :(

Thanks Jim. That's one of the best spots I know of in the immediate area. Next time hopefully the fires will be out. It's been a really bad year for that.

Thanks dlmorris. It does almost look like the mountain is erupting in stars.
